Best Palace free kicks
Good video made by the club this week of the best Palace free kicks over time. I'm sure there are some not included in the video that have poor footage or perhaps no footage at all!
I always thought that scoring free kicks was a very un-Palace thing to do - a bit too fancy for us! But watching it back we have scored some crackers in recent years. My favourite is Puncheon's at Anfield. We were absolutely superb that day to ruin Gerrard's party with Chamakh in particular showing all his class in the midfield but Punch's free kick was special. There's just something stylish about a free kick whipped in low across the goalmouth to leave the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Taylor's v Chelsea 1976. If you were lucky enough or old enough to be there the untold Palace thousands went delirious.

Finally managed to embed the video.
Taylor's at Chelsea is the first on there. The second free kick is ... controversial!

Yep - best I’ve seen. From a long way out and would still be going if it wasn’t for the net.

Went goalistic. Fantastic free kick. No idea how we got back after the match. And in one piece. |

I do remember an astonishing one a few years back when Shaun Derry got one over the wall. Over the bar too but hey.

Made all the sweeter because of all of his ones before it that endangered the birds in the trees. Was a wonderful moment on a great day.

Peter Taylor v Chelsea FA cup, fantastic free kick and because of what it meant. Last edited by Mr Bo Jangles; 19-08-2018 at 07:42 AM. |

Did Dean Gordon ever score one for us? Amazing power that lad had. Some of his goals from outside the box were sensational.

Oh for the days of Big Mal 1974 we had a free kick routine the two players end of the wall fell down and the space created used to put the ball in the net except despite the practice and a few attempts in games we kept missing. Until that is we messed it up the two players fell but the guy taking the free kick slipped and that delayed the free kick. He hit the ball just as they were getting up it hit Charlie Cooke on the shoulder and diverted into the net. Over 40 years ago but I still rmember it.
Oh Peter Taylor Chelsea comes second to that one still over 40 years ago...... |

Agreed, it's the stand-out one for me! Such distance, pace and power. Love the fact Friedel got a decent hand to it but still couldn't stop it
