Have to agree with this. Given that this was an Olympic spectacle, why not name the park after one of our great Olympians. Most of the obvious candidates are current or relatively recent competitors and so that might not be appropriate, but (for example) the Harold Abrahams Olympic park is surely a much more appropriate name than yet another landmark named after royalty.
