Good diet is a must as is good sleep. Sleep is the key for me. I keep a food, sleep and exercise diary. Use an app called My Wonderful Days that allows you to select how your happiness was each day. Understanding trends has quite frankly changed my life completely. Bad days still happen but the best thing about days is that they always end and you get a new start every single time

I've decided to leave the beers alone for a bit, I think it will do me the world of good!

I have a job interview tomorrow, less money to begin with, but hopefully less stress.

Am full of bogeys at the moment, always susceptible to lurgeys, so will also look to eat better and exercise more

Honestly don't ignore it or change loads of stuff to quickly see someone.
It's definitely the office. I don't get this when working on the same material from home. Same thing happened recently in Ikea as well. I've got an ultimate card now to get out of that. Tbf though this week has gone a lot better and I understand my triggers a bit better now too.

Anyway, being seeing a stress counsellor, that's quite helpful in a way.

I'm learning about this condition all the time, a lot of people say it is permanent and you have to come back slowly, which has been my mistake so far. But now my immediate manager is leaving, so don't have a direct reporting line and have just decided to fck it and take matters into my own hands, so been signed off half time, with 3 mornings from home and 2 in the office on paper, but will only come in if absolutely necessary. I could write a pretty long essay about this company and its basket-case culture and the past year but one consequence is there's no sense of management, filters or people with my case (except 1 HR) so it's all about being ruthless myself to eliminate anything that triggers it.

I'm worried now for my consultant colleague who was my counterpart delivery manager. He's Indian with a work ethic and relocated long-term with his family from his last job in Japan for this assignment. The stupid hours are changing his appearance before my eyes. No-one seems concerned but he his going down very soon, and I am telling him to just leave the office and forget the job for as long as he can. He is basically working 6½ days a week round the clock because the processes are non-existent and comes up against a business culture who scream about anything.

This was a good article on burnout recently that resonated a lot.

Good call mate. You see lots of people working through their lunch breaks, staying late, working on the train etc. Its no wonder they burn out. Surprised it doesnt happen more.

Kind of what I meant its the underlying stress that's causing the places to trigger the anxiety. Hard to explain but the Counsellor is a great leap forward.

There is a recovery you just come back a different person.

Way back late 90's I remember my first NHS session which was in a group and at the end she took us through a type of guided meditation relaxation type thing which up until that point in typical hard nose 30's man I thought was a load of bollocks the 3 hours relief it bought me was a massive eye opener to how much I was running on 110% 6.30am to 11.30pm 3 days a week topped with 6.30am to 7pm 2/3 days. Fast expanding mega business owner demanding huge life events (kids) huge business events and moving etc It gets to a stage were you are just running on empty and that point boom this shit starts. I spent a year convinced I had heart problems and went through rack of tests.

Once I had that session I went a found help privately. I honestly cannot describe the felling I left that NHS session with felt like a different person, didn't last long but hey put me on the right road.

This week I had my first ever proper 'consult', which consisted of sharing a tonne of horrible experiences in the past, with the hope that things can move forward from here. Not going to lie, found it very tough to be open when I've spent my life hiding, well, everything.

Looking forward to the next session. This can only be a good thing. Love to all of you, I take a lot of faith in reading how you're all doing and how things are getting better / learning.

Just remember it takes time.

Be patient and you'll find the answers eventually.

Learning curves are a strange thing.

I was told that i'd get a face to face counselling session, but it hasn't happened. Instead, had another telcon which was a waste of time really. I'm just going to take myself private.

The support that you guys have given me is utterly priceless. I thank all of you, the kindness that some of you have extended has absolutely stopped me in my worst moments and made me look forward properly. I cannot even express how amazing some of you are. Thank you.

Much love from me to anyone who is struggling. PM me if you're struggling. I want to help others the way that others have helped me. It's a continual journey.
