Like to see him contribute with some attacking intent. I'll watch him closely and see what he dies that has a positive impact on our performance. I expect to see several pirouettes slowing down attacks sideways passes needless fouls and any shot attempt easily blocked as he delays shooting That apart from jogging all over the pitch instead of running and getting tackled for holding on to ball too long that is wit out including his awful deadball kicks which may be taken off him if YC plays....not that YC deadball kicks are any better ut YC contributes a lot more. Sorry to criticise JP but he has been disappointing for too long apart from 3 or 4 games under Sam when he started to speed up play. Then reverted back to type. Not good enough.

I do agree to a point (his pointing drives me mad) he has to play in an attacking role or not play Luka is our def/midfielder Punch needs a goal to fire him up lets hope its tomorrow.

Punch's role in this set up, and for the last year at least, has been as a deep lying playmaker. I think he fulfills this role fairly well considering what he has in front of him. Would prefer to see cabaye in the same role though.

Considering what's in front of him? Wilf AT and Benteke. Are not s***. If he played the ball earlier it would help. I honestly don't think he has what I'd call a "footballing brain". He lacks vision and guile.

If he is an attacking midfielder Punch doesn't get himself in the box. He tends to hover near the edge. Contrast this with McArthur who will actually attack the ball in the box.

Gutted he's out.

I was at Huddersfield and I thought he was really good, but to honestly got an even better appreciation of just how good watching the CPFC highlight video here

Wow. I realise most of that was in the 2nd half but still. Hope he makes a swift recovery.

Wilf is normally double or triple marked, and benteke doesn't provide the movement needed.

I've missed what happened with him yesterday, does anyone know? Frank said he was fit and the Palace facebook page seemed adamant he was in the squad yesterday morning.

Failed last minute fitness test? Chelsea doctors stepped in and said not ready yet?

We love to sign injury crocks don't we... Such a shame as he looked the only bright spark during the first two games. Hopefully he will be fully fit on Saturday - we need him.

Looked our best player, the most likely to do some damage and gets taken off. FFS. No wonder the crowd booed that!

I thought he was certainly more lively than most of our lot but his touch was quite poor at times, gave the ball away a fair bit and lacked composure at key moments.

Having said that Ward is suffering a severe crisis of confidence and MacArthur looks shot. So it's all relative I'm afraid.

First half he was excellent but second half he looked like he was struggling for fitnessandwas just short of reaching everything and it made sense replacing him.

Completely disagree. He created two clear-cut chances Benteke & Punch should've put away. He understandably tired in the second half though because he was short of fitness hence why he came off.

His touch is fine & he's clearly a level above everyone else like Zaha when he's fit.

That's exactly how I saw it.

RF-L was tiring and, having just come back from injury, I think Hodgson was being cautious rather than risk him for longer, and then lose him for the next set of matches.

This is going to get massively shot down and I'm going to be told it's crap
but a friend was speaking to Barry Bannan's agent and they got onto RLC. He said that he has a big problem with his knees and struggles to complete 90 minutes. He did Saturday but this may explain why Roy took him off in the Southampton game when he looked our best player.

Even in the first half he was struggling at times. I remember one bit of intensity and a sprint he had to walk for the next two minutes to recover.

I hope we can get him whippet fit and play him up front
