Thought he was great. Defended as well as attacked. He defers to Benteke too much though, but this is a huge learning curve and I think he is doing really well.

I thought, in the circumstances, he did OK and there were some flashes of good things to come albeit a few more would have been nice. He had no support whenever he got the ball and TBH mostly was seeing it fly over or wide of him.

Re position, he is used to playing as a wide forward or down the middle and so I don't think he is out of position really (in terms of his experience) as he was playing left in a 433. TBH today's front 3 had a lot of defensive duties plus being expected to be the outlet but that's not unique. He will be adjusting to the Premier level and TBH to his team mates. It's his secret no game in a new country. Give the guy some time to show what he can do.

When Benteke put him through between the CBs I was impressed that he stayed on his feet and almost powered through - not something we have been seeing. Too many players would have stopped and waved their arms about and stayed out of it. Nice burst down the left where he used pace, power and some skill to take us up the pitch. The problem with a game like today isn't that the back 9 are sitting watching while they wait for the next attack.

As an aside I was impressed that Jairo was at least trying to get up there with him and even into the box but still getting back again but Luka and Macca weren't doing the same (maybe to instruction).

Play Benteke in his position today then. We all know the answer.

Alexander Sørloth discussion

Clearly not his position. Showed commitment and desire a plenty. Not much luck but stuck at it. Never shirked and did the ugly.

A 6.5 out of 10 but he will come on a bundle in the right position.

He did not look out of place, good speed, strong and showed some good touches. Will come good.

Very good pace for such a large man.
Promising.
Think he will do a great job as focal point of our attack if we do go down.
If we stay up then he is going to spend most of next season on bench when others are fit again (as I am assuming we would sell Benteke and purchase a more experienced CF to be first choice for that role).

He wasn't great. Nor was he terrible. Very hard to know for many games how he will turn out

Not sure the evidence suggests confidence in the latter.

How some of you can't see a player in there is beyond me. Literally no support up front right now, having to carry it up the pitch alone, and he gets moaned about.

I saw some good football and a number of times decent footwork.

Sure I heard on an interview his preferred position is central . From what I have seen of him , I would play him there now with Benteke on bench .

Video clips - all are central - obviously a lower standard

Looks like he'll get goals if given the right service, but will he?
He's going to have to work really hard when we are not in possession.
Showed potential, but clearly he is not a wide player. Time will tell.

Anyone that watched the pre match shooting practice would have seen him find the net 6 out of 7 times compared to Bentekes 2 out of 7, which is quite usual.

Just need to get him in the right position, drop Benteke and give this guy a go.

Yes he will have to work hard , but does Benteke ? Just feel the time has come for something different to Benteke . Sorloth probably will work hard out wide but he is not a Zaha or Townsend type player .

Play him instead of Benteke, he can't possibly score less goals than Benteke.

Without doubt he is raw and feeling his way at this level which is totally understandable after just ONE game in the premiership, is he or will he make a premiership striker? its left to be seen, as only time will tell. But there was something about his game on Sunday which suggested he has what it takes and will get a lot better in time.
Will he be a starter next season if we are in the premiership especially with having CB and CW around? i am not sure as they are all very similar, also i feel we need strikers that complement eachother's style if we are to play 2 upfront, and i dont see a combination pairing from those mentioned working.
Having said that we do need a minimum of Four strikers next season, and if we can also add a "nippy" striker that would then give us the options we will need.

Obviously not a winger or wide player but he wouldn't do worse than Benteke if played centrally

I bet he's looking forward to playing alongside Wilf and being able to move central. Sure we'll see the best of him when we've got our full team out.
