TBF the ORR do accept some responsibility for the disaster albeit with the caveat that they believed what they were told?

I'd guess this would affect a lot of home games given the most disruptive work would need to be done at weekends. May be better in the long term for going to Palace though especially with a new stand and the higher attendances that should follow.

I must admit after the fiasco of the new timetable and the slight discomfort of the new train design, I’m rather liking the new Thameslink services. Being able to get into the heart of London and beyond without changing trains is great. Services through central London almost as frequent as the tube. Long, walk through trains which are much quieter at speed than those they replaced.
The main gripes remain the hard seats, inefficient heating, lack of leg room on the window seats, no plug sockets and only some with WiFi. When the Elizabeth Line finally opens, even more connections and opportunities to avoid the tube.

Not specific to Southern but one for the train drivers and signallers on here.

I would have thought the best course of action would have been to changed ends and attempted to release the brakes from the rear cab , checked the Door Interlock light illuminated in rear cab and then driven back to the previous station from the rear cab if the line behind was still clear and the brakes released rather than de-train passengers onto the track .
If not a controlled evacuation should have taken place with , Powerline switch off , adjacent lines blocked and extra network rail staff provided to marshal passengers from the train to the station after briefing them on basic track safety . One driver cannot safely evacuate a train on his own if not in a station and shouldn't have been told to do so as it wasn't an emergency situation .

You are supposed to call the signaller straight away and then fleet within two minutes.

Typical network rail feck up although apologies to LN1 but signallers these days just seem to want to keep trains running come what may. Well that's the way it is up here in scotland. If you have a train fault the signaller hounds you as though its him personally who is paying for the delay.
Yes the driver seems to be in the wrong here but once the signaller was in contact with him the signaller was totally unproffessional and in my opinion grossly negligent. Lucky for all concerned there were no serious injuries or fatalities |

As in most accidents or incidents there is clearly not just one person to blame. This situation seems to be a catalogue of errors. Its the typical swiss cheese senario where all the holes suddenly line up.
Its easy to sit back without any pressure and say well I'd do this or that but it can be quite daunting when in a situation where 800 people are watching you looking clueless and you are trying to be proffessional |

It wouldnt be surprising though that if he delayed the evacuation then the people would self-evacuate and cause more problems anyway. Thats becoming a big issue these days. |
