Just read this, was too busy bollocking the Talktalk bloke for being the sole provider of cable tv in the area. He deserved shouting at because Sky executives decided not to provide signal in our area. Consequently, that TalkTalk engineer needed to justify why the MD of Sky didn't view the area as profitable enough.

I'm not saying people should be rude or aggressive but if a customer complains to you about your company's poor service, listen and be sympathetic, don't shrug and say it's the other guys fault. Really basic customer service skills, which in a customer facing job, everyone should have.

All we are saying is we pay a lot of money for a shit service and how much is a novice train driver on could do with that get paid and they cancel your train.

the blame lies with the decision to allow a vital service such as the railways to be run by private profiteers who care little about reliability, comfort or convenience. More overcrowding which is reaching inhumane levels means more profit. Why in the 21st century is there persistent signal failure
Why are the trains often dirty dilapidated and without heating I have travelled on trains in Europe and they would not be seen dead in some of the cattle trucks we have to endure. perhaps we should be more like the brazillians who are rioting over excessive fare increases! |

The trains in Scotland are clean, puntual and not overcrowded (in Aberdeen at least)

Honestly, most of the train staff I have spoken to in real life are fine and understand their customers frustrations, and I appreciate it isn't their fault personally - it's only on this thread really that staff like yourself are coming across as bitter jobsworths. I suppose it's easier to be rude to paying customers behind an anonymous keyboard.

As someone who used to work in an office job travelling by train everyday I completely understand the frustrations I really do, but it is fair to say having been exposed to the industry I do now understand it is not quite so black and white as many people seem to think it should be with regards to how a railway is run / solving situations like disruption.
Believe me it is frustrating sitting at red signals constantly or being constantly stuck behind something. I can't tell you how many times I have been running to time to Purley only to end up reaching Victoria 15-25 minutes late because I have had to follow a 12+ car Freight train all the way up.
