He seems to have three to four solid (if slightly flawed) games, followed by a shocker then then the odd brilliant one. I did love the way he started at Huddersfield - he went in much harder in the tackle, just to let them know he wasn't going to put up with any of their shit - shame he got injured (Cabaye played well as his replacement though).

I agree with you about his inconsistency.
He’s Jekyll and Hyde....it’s amazing how the same person can do very well in one match and then a week later he looks like he’s clueless. |

Roy seems to love him on the left in and a narrow midfield 4. He’s played well there to be fair puts in a hell of a shift

Just like a young Yannick Bolasie then ?

I think this inconsistency explains the hot and cold views of him at Leicester. The extreme difference between the good and bad is bigger than most. His first match back was excellent but his next was the other end of the spectrum. Odd because really at his age he should have settled into a solid game by now. He has always been shuffled around a lot but that is largely due to his up and down form I think.

I like him. Very Palace, versatile and still young.

With Schlupp, Zaha, Townsend, PVA, AWB etc we have a lot of pace energy in the team (and good quality). A good buy.

I rate him. Having him and PVA as our left-back options, with Schlupp also able to play elsewhere, is a proper Premier League pairing. Far cry from 18 months ago where we played Kelly there every week. That was grim.

Poor positional sense at LB which is less exposed up the pitch. Needs to improve on final ball. Committed solid squad player however

Good to see him back
Hopefully these last four games will be a great chance to see what we can do with an almost fully fit squad. We should be targeting the full 12 points IMO.

Has shooting ever been his strong point?

Interestingly, if you watch the videos of his goals at Leicester. There are a fair few long range screamers on there and quite a bit of composure in front of goal. Perhaps this is just something that disappears when you join Palace, as he isn't the first Palace player to lose his shooting boots after joining us (Benteke, Cabaye, Townsend to name a few)

I think he’s poor defensively but a bit like van Aanholt, he’s so quick that he often gets away with it. Although both players weren’t exactly cheap, I think they were decent buys by Allardyce.

Unfortunately we are in a situation where we have THREE Left Backs that are good going forward but defensively leave a lot to be desired, and i am not sure Roy Hodgson will continue to accept that situation come the summer window.
I am not sure what the fitness level of Souare is at and if he has fully recovered to warrant staying on, also we need to sell either One of PVA or Schlupp to create a vacancy for a LB that can defend, and that person should be Kieron Gibbs a cultured player that can defend and attack and should be available for a sensible figure, would fit in well at CPFC. |

Kieron Gibbs is not better than PVA or Schlupp

Gibbs is a Whole lot better than either of them defensively, and is that not what i said or what we should look for? afterall it is a defender that is needed in defence first and foremost.

Mariginal if at all for me but PVA is much better offensively and Jeff more versatile. If we stay up then should one be sold ( and I doubt that they will be ) Bertrand is a possibility but might be too costly. Increasingly in the modern game full back is about much more than defending .
