There are so many problems it's hard to know where to start, but ultimately it all seems to stem from the Americans coming in. Thats not to say that they are the problem, but at that moment we seemed to change our direction. And I'm starting to think that Parish thought we were a truly established Premier League club.
When 2010 came in it seemed that the fans were the priority and tbh this seemed the case for the first two years of the prem as well. But now we seem to be targeting more money in an American market (which is fine but not of the expense of our true fans) and even at home the whole hospitality thing seems to be more important than actually doing something about the stadium. Anyone who had or still has a ticket in the directors box will tell you the farce that Parish has caused there. (I don't have anything like that sort of money btw) Pardew moving the academy to down the road in an abject facility showed his complete lack of desire to build anything from the bottom. I don't think Parish or the American owners share the fans hope that we could take advantage of any local talent and in all honesty if you had a talented kid would you send them to Palace at the moment? I can't see this changing under Allardyce either. Pardew getting rid of the decent coaching staff we had and replacing them with people of limited experience. I'm not including Millen who seems to have come in for a lot of flack, cause I think continuity is good. But did Pardew try to demote Ben Garner back to the youth team in favour of John Salako? Obviously Garner went to West Bromwich. Meanwhile if anyone heard Travis talking on last week's FYP podcast he mentioned that Salako felt it necessary to teach the youth team hoofball, which hardly seems great credentials to promote him to first team coach in a team that is "transitioning" to a more attractive type of football. Transfer policy changing. For all the flack Parish takes about being tight on transfers in the past it has served us well. In the last couple of seasons we've signed Cabaye, Townsend and Benteke on big money and big wages and in reality none of them have made us a better team. They all played last night and that was probably the worst performance in the premier league, perhaps with the exception of Fulham at home and Villa away last season. Oh and that's before you mention Adebyor which probably meant that no one could be bothered to put the effort into signing a proper striker last January. We now seem to be signing players apparently in the prime of their careers, rather than looking at players that may be a couple of years away from it. There's been not one signing from the Championship since Lee and when we do look there it only seems to be to try and piss off a local rival. And then you get to the stupidity of things like the advertising boards and floodlights. No one going to the ground cares. We are not going to buy that your making the match day experience any better and it's not improving the que for a beer at halftime or the fact that the Arthur Wait concourse is not big enough for the amount of people in the stand. All in all there seems to be some serious issues at the club and with the squad we have and lack of talent coming through we are really not in a good position to get relegated. I would hope that we have a contingency plan in place for relegation, but on the face of it at the moment it seems unlikely. |

We tried to change our style and to be fair we had been found out results were bad. For me some players did not buy into the changed style as they knew their limits, losing Bolasie Souare Wickham McArthur Remy hurts us. Never keeping a set back four and keeper because of injury. Who could say AT would be so poor he was good pre season now CB after a good start has been very poor. So players loss of form injury lack of organization have caused a lack of confidence that is hard to turn around. New players and SA can save us from relegation we are very lucky not to be cut adrift.

Time will tell. Not that the board had much option to change after the Swansea game.

I think you're being quite generous to Pards there. What he seemed to have missed in his Barcelona masterclass was that those little triangles that they play result in the ball getting moved forwards, not sideways or backwards. All the 'changing style' stuff was bullshit and conceit - he had no idea how to coach it and just thought if he bought the likes of Cabaye, it would just happen. He had so many chances to just go back to what we're good at but old style Palace was beneath his dignity. He's fu cked up the team and fu cked up his career, all completely avoidably.

All of it represents a change in the club that has coincedentally coincided with the downturn in our form. Feels like we've rested on our laurels and we're paying the price for it.

Are we officially in meltdown now? Imagine what it'll be like if we actually swap leagues with Brighton?
