Like a few others above I think Kilbane's ok, as are Jenas and Murphy, but don't often hear them diwn here. Used to like Ron Atkinson and going back further Brian Clough was always great.

Darren Gough

Used to like Hawksby and Jacobs but don't listen now as the show on Talkradio (DAB) is funnier in my opinion

I see some different ones as I have Bein with Keys (awful) and Gray (awful) - I'll just review their Welsh pundits
Craig Bellamy is very knowledgeable but sometimes I can't concentrate on what he is saying as he wears some awful clothes
How does Savage get a job? The bore down the pub knows more
Coleman is on here with Bein. You'd never want him as a manager. Thinks its all about getting stuck in
Pulis, knob but very good

Looking forward to having Hughes on soon. They all turn up on Bein in Qatar just after being sacked

Tony Gale is woeful on international comms - he can trend across the Middle East on twitter for being awful
Gabriele Marcotti good on international review show but hates Parish.

Seems quite out of character for him, he's been thinking we're the dog's bollocks ever since we beat Sunderland 4-1 three seasons ago. I still remember he predicted us to finish fifth the season after that.

Always been very complimentary about palace when I have seen him. The arrogance is a bit of a "dutch" thing in my experience. I think it's because their language is so guttural. Generally find the Dutch to be great people with a good sense of humour.

He must spend all of 3 minutes a week on it: all he does is pick the players in each position who has scored the most goals (often squeezing 6 forwards into the team) and adds a goalkeeper who has saved a penalty for good measure.

The festive team is particularly bad (3 defenders, 1 central midfielder, 3 attacking midfielders and 3 strikers), as he uses most of the space to advise the players he's picked to move teams to win trophies.

Danny Murphy is the best by far imo, but rather underused by the BBC who give other inferior pundits many more of the high profile programmes despite their weaker contributions.

I find Glenn Hoddle hard to listen to!

Murphy and Jenas are both good.
Both played recently and understand the game, and how it should be played. Kilbane seems a good enough pundit.
Who was lead commentator for the City game (apart from McMananam?). I thought he was quite good.

Edited because I got Murphy and Mills mixed up.

The vast majority of the pundocracy have extremely lazy opinions. One person says it on Match of the Day, they all say it
So when Shearer claimed Wilf was inconsistent they all claimed it
After we beat Chelsea Danny Murphy (I think) claimed with Roy we wouldn't go down. Up until then everyone said we were 100% doomed but then everyone flipped and we became too good to go down. After one result. Like in 1984 when we'd always been at war with Eastaisa.

So at least Merson thought for himself!

Murphy is actually pretty good. And speaking of Charlton Chris Powell is sometimes used in the Middle East and is very perceptive (loves Wilf too).

This is my issue with most pundits/analysts. They totally over-react to what's happened in the last few weeks. Merson wasn't the only one to say there was no way back for us despite us being out of the bottom 3 by the New Year in the end.

I'm sure one of the guys on the Football Weekly pod said Watford were already safe from relegation around a month ago.

I dont mind Merson, and to be fair hes usually quite pro Palace.
I dont really blame him for those comments either. How many of us thought wed be where we are now after those first 7 games?

ITV commentators changed the way it was done in the UK, toward a sensationalism approach, drumming up superlatives and excitement about throw-ons. I miss the old whimsical commentary that didnt need to describe everything (as we are watching it ourselves?) that may regale us with an antedate or stat, or even better make a dry joke about the proceedings, unfortunately the likes of Barry Davies, have given away to Clive Tylesley and Jon Champion who are solely focused on making their voice sound dynamic whilst searching for that phrase that will go down in history books.... I wanted to smash my TV when Tylesley said 'Is it really 3-nil to Chelsea' against Barcelona in the 90's, I hate this form of commentary, unfortuately they all do it now.
