For political and media satire, it's hard to beat Radio 4's Dead Ringers. The 2018 series has just ended, some episodes available (for a limited time I think) as a podcast here:

After several recommendations, I've started to listen to Athletico Mince (Bob Mortimer). I'm 12 episodes in, and it's yet to live up to expectations. Whilst ok(ish), there are no real laugh out loud moments and it is extremely repetitive.
Can anyone give me a heads up as to whether it gets any better? Otherwise I'm going to bin the remaining episodes and move on to something else.

Some decent listens

If you like Serial - Teachers Pet - its basically an investigation into the disappearance of Lynette Dawson, the wife of rugby league player / teacher Chris Dawson who disappeared without a trace
Also not quite as good but closer to home the doorstep murderer is a scottish unsolved murder.

Football wise Linekar & Baker behind closed doors is an easy enough listen - and very funny in parts - yes I know Baker supports the wall

left field pods are

My dad wrote a Porno - guy finds out his dad has written (very badly) a soft porn erotic novel him and a couple of friends decide to read and rip the piss!
Romesh's Hip hop saved my life - seen it mentioned on here before - also very funnny

The latest episode of Radiolab about the NHL Allstar is one of the best episodes of a podcast I've listened to in some time.

Don Letts’ Turtle Bay podcasts are great, touching and informative. What really narks me are music podcasts with no music, however good the presenters are. Get the rights, dude. Don has them.

Yeah, they were decent. Cringed a bit at times at how far up Crouch’s arse the other two were, but on that whole, entertaining and offered an interesting insight into some aspects of football.

Top Flight Time Machine hosted by Sam Delaney and Andy Dawson started out as a sweary-filled irreverent review of previous Premier League seasons but they realised they were running out of sessions so now do sweary-filled irreverent weekly PL previews and reviews too. They've even created a prediction competition where they're both losing to a fictional character called Results Bot who simply predicts 1-0 to the home team in every game.

For any other listeners who enjoy Dan Carlin's Hardcore History (I know it's been recommended on here a few times), he has just released the 2nd part of his podcast about Japan leading up to WWII.

Enjoyed Lineker and Baker Behind Closed Doors lately. BBC 5 Live just did and excellent series on the British victims of the Waco masssacre which is definitely worth a listen and I am about to start on The Hurricane Tapes about Ruben Carter.

Also FYP, Last Podcast on the Left and You Must Remember This.

I’ve listened to a few of the Lineker and Baker and whilst it’s good listening, Baker makes my ears bleed with inane bollocks.

It's quite hit and miss, and I've skipped the early ones, but the Peter Beardsley stuff Bob does cracks me up. Episode 69 is infamous for its songs, so maybe start there.

I tried Athletico Mince for a while and could not really get in to it.

From the BBC I have Flip and The Boring Talks.

Rule of Three is a favourite, two comedy writers interview another one each episode about their own favourite comedy.

Football weekly from the Guardian is favourite (non Palace) football pod. I prefer it with Max Rushden, or at least not AC Jimbo.

And the Bugle is generally quite good. Still trying out Radio X John Robins & Elis James. Robins is a bit too Richard Hammond v2 so it's hanging by a thread until James is back from paternity leave.

Re the Elis James & John Robins podcast, have a listen to the Tony Blackburn episode. If you like partridge etc it is a must listen
