Not sure how true it is but my mate the insurance broker says that you need to be very, very careful with Admiral. He reckons that if you have an accident and are breathalysed, even if it comes back clear they will refuse to pay.
A lot of the companies that come up with the lowest premiums using those comparson web-sites turn out to be just a white-label for Admiral as well.

Funny that this thread came up today, I am currently in the midst of getting renewal quotes for my motor policy. I am sure that the websites I've looked at so far are deliberately designed to be confusing.

I would suggest your mate is talking bollocks Any accident requiring police attendance will end up with you being breathalysed. As long as you are under the legal limit, and therefore entitled to be driving there is no way they can avoid paying out, on that basis at least

Funny how when your renewal comes through that its about £300 more than if you renew online.Churchill wouldnt match it even though it was a saved quote so i just let it cancel at end of the month and done it online. And as for £70 no claims protection what a joke ,Morethan done it for about £25 .

It's that time of year again, renewal comes through at about £100 more than I paid last year.
Searching on Confused, Go Compare and Compare the Market, they all come back with Quote Me Happy as the best price. Oddly enough, despite the same details being entered, Quote me Happy's price on the three varies (£450 on confused, £434 on Go Compare and £354 on Compare the Market). anyone used Quote me Happy? |

You must be a bad risk, Kolinkins, as the insurance press today reports an average 10.6% decrease in premiums since last year: http://www.insuranceage.co.uk/insura...10-annual-fall.

![]() Actually since posting it and telling Admiral of my change in job title and of the other prices I have had, they have come down by £200. Whether I stick with them of not depends on whether I can be bothered with the hassle of changing insurer. EDIT: the rise in price was odd as well given that I also now have 4 years NCB. |

Mines coming up soon. The first time I've had to renew so hoping it will go down from the £1500 it was last year. Let's face it though it's not going to be any less than a grand.

I have had decades of NCB, young one. That doesn't stop premiums rising.

But there is the expectation of a reduction in premium when going from 3 to 4 years NCB. |

Sorted now - was uneasy with Quote me Happy being online only & I noticed on their site they are underwritten by Aviva. so I contacted Aviva and got the best deal of the lot. £300 less than Admiral's renewal quote.

As an aside I note the ABI won an important court decision today, Simmons v Castle, in the COA. Believed to save the insurance industry about £300m which according to the ABI press release represents a saving of about £13 on every car insurance premium.
