Quite. In fact, the total opposite of a stitch up, which is where it was heading until this ruling.

A victory for genuine UK parliamentary sovereignty.

Article 50 will now go ahead on time, but with the proper wider scrutiny that the people of this country deserve.

This is one of the ways Britain will become more united again.

the issue was the Devolution thingy so nothing re timetable has changed. Even if the Liberal filth manage to get an amendment on that allows Parliament a final say on the deal there's no chance of it getting a majority.

In summary A50 will happen in March and we will leave 2 years later.

yep - only thing that could have put a spanner in the works was if Jimmy K had a say but that's been kicked into touch. MPs are happy since they get a vote. Remoaners are happy since they can pretend they knew all along about the Royal Pregotive precedents in the 17th century and these thicko Brexit lot didn't even know that so were too thick to even vote etc. Brexidiots are happy since Brexit will happen now and even if there's a trade war there'll be less immigrants nicking our jobs and none of them have property portfolios anyway so don't care.
So in summary the only people unhappy are the SNP

What I find disturbing is that 11 Supreme Court judges heard the case, read the same law and then 3 of them came to an exact opposite conclusion. This wasn't a case of trying to re-create a crime scene and hearing circumstantial evidence, this is the law of the land, as stated in black and white. Goes to show nothing's black and white.

How many MPs will be brave enough to vote against the will of the people?

Ken Clarke has I think already says he will (based on the fact his own constituency voted Remain) and I dare say a handful of others will join him. I would have to guess also that the SNP MPs en masse will vote against it, using the same argument as Ken Clarke as justification and giving further justification to try and trigger another Independence referundum when parliament ratifies the triggering of article 50.

Possible clause insertion in the Act of Parliament to come and that could be supported by enough MPs from all sides.

Fingers crossed.

Probably for the best and I would prefer a snap election before the vote so people can select MPs who would vote the way they want (plus it would give May some much needed legitimacy).

It is amusing to see the vocal socialists/anti establishment/anarchist people on social media screaming with joy at a decision made by a few unelected fauntleroys in a closed room. Approving of the system when it agrees with you makes you a massive hypocrite hth.

Anarchists? Are you sure? They are a no-law unto themselves. Don't think any true Anarchist would be 'whoooping' over this.

We all knew these people would do this anyway, telegraph predicated back in December it would be 8-4 anyway.

Only good that has come of this it puts Sturgen back in her box, as their parliaments have no say according to the court.

Sentence 1 - yes
Sentence 2 - yes
Sentence 3 - Definitely NO if you heard the SNP deputy leader on the radio ten minutes ago! Second independence referendum in Autumn 2018 is the SNP's official stance now.
