Only just seen this thread. Fantastic stuff.
Don't suppose anyone can find the 1-1 away to Charlton 1969 ? |

The Palace website posting some early stuff (which is probably already on this forum somewhere)
To view the link you have to Register or Login I was at the Leeds game '65 (and the Forest game in the previous round) young dreams shattered that night.. Anyway what's interesting is the number of diving saves Jacko makes where he catches the ball. None of this fancy diving (for the sake of a dive) and punching the ball out that Keepers do these days. Yes , yes, yes I know the ball is lighter and it moves in the air blah de blah but some of the saves are so unecassary these days..

I was disappointed with what the CP website posted ONLY because the footage that is shown is on the CP centenary DVD.
I thought i was going to see a lot of new and recently discovered material but maybe as the summer goes on, maybe more clips will come to light? The clip on Palace player where Johnny Byrne scores for England for example was great to see.

Great viewing, thanks It was a great end to the season, two 4-1 home wins against Hull and Wolves. Bobby Woodruff scored against his old club. Deepdale looked more interesting than it does now. |

Great find barnabas. Well Done! Was at that Wolves game as mentioned Bobby Woodruff scored also Danny Light adding to the two he scored the previous week. Good to see the view of the ground then, I remember the barriers and the sloping earth bank, where when it rained it was hard to keep your footing. Something for supporters who were not around then to see.

Super footage and shows how vast the Whitehorse Lane End was before the various developments that has now reduced it to just around 2,000 capacity, it actually seemed to make the Park Road side (later to become the Arthur Wait Stand) alot smaller in comparision, where the AW is now the largest stand at SP.
Loved the shot panning in from the start of Thornton Heath High St into Whitehorse Lane with St Alban's Church and Hall in the background. Pretty much the same view today, over 47 years later, without the Wolves fans, obviously!

Just spotted this on YouTube; footage of Selhurst been developed in 1969. Possibly before the first game of the season against Manchester United.

1984 Sheffield Wed promotion game v Palace. Mega highlights. Nearly an hour. Remarkably most of the youngsters from 'The team of the eighties' were still playing for us and Jimbo too. |

I was also at both those games (another youngster). Surely that was handball and a penalty after 20 seconds of the Leeds game.

And a good crowd for the Wolves game - 26,930 - with still plenty of room to spare.

Amazing goal line clearance early on from Vince. Must be Palace's worst ever kit, simply horrible. |

That was filmed from almost exactly where I sat last season, both penalty spots blocked by pillars.
