I can understand that not everyone can be flexible but maybe try and choose a different time to travel. I leave from CW at 4.30pm so tend to miss the evening issues as well. I guess not everyone has the ability to travel outside core hours, but if you do it is worth making the effort.
what time do you get up?

It's trtrue I know leave early not due to trains but to get a desk at work, enjoying finishing early instead as well, I'm aware this won't work for everyone

Or leaving later. I aim to get in for around 1000hrs and leave after 1800hrs most days. You get to avoid the main carnage that way too.

Understand I am very naïve on this topic and can't be arsed to do any research either, but who regulates the train companies? Are any statistics compiled (almost 100% certain they are not) as to how many passengers are on each platform and each train at any one time and are there safety standards as to how many there should safely be?

Southern trains and any other train franchise around London for that matter really have the dream business model.

The are guaranteed customers with no adjustment for seasonality. These customers have zero alternative as to who they travel with.

They are allowed by law to increase prices every year above inflation. How many other industries do this?

For those working for southern on here - have your wages been adjusted in line with the % rises on ticket prices?

Due to the monopolistic nature of these franchises, they don't even have to worry about complaints - customer service can literally be thrown out of the window as it doesn't matter. Even worse they
often don't even meet the service standards us customers are paying for and then have this over complicated system of claiming money back with ridiculous thresholds as to when you can claim.

I can only assume if there are any regulators they do not commute to work on the trains every day.

VPN and work 2 days out of 5 at home. Relieve some pressure on the train network.

Do you think shareholders would allow any increased profits to be shared with front line staff?
There's only 1 reason people buy shares in a rail company... And it ain't to improve the working conditions of its staff.

Like I've said before if you think the rail companies are making too much money, buy shares in them.

why not? The parent company of Southern, Go Ahead Group, has had a 50% rise in its share price in 12 months.

Well yes. I imagine the parent company of first has not had such a good run though.

******* nightmare at Victoria. After waiting outside the station for ages we now have to wait for the driver to change ends of the train, reverse back up the track and then change ends again and go into a different platform. So I'm late for an important meeting. Wtf is going on?
