Walk to Shadwell and get the overground to West Croydon. Cheaper and much less hassle. Thank you please.

Just got back to East croydon, I know it is completely out of order but was a struggle not to be rude to the platform staff tonight.

How this has gone on so long I will never know.
Anyhow, pissed off and knackered. Thank you network rail and southern. Good night. |

Yeah sorry, canada water is better. It wouldn't be great as it shares some of the track, but at least would avoid LB.

Overground is generally pretty reliable but horrendously crowded in rush hour. It's not a pleasant journey to west croydon, assuming you can get on its proper sardines stuff. They are supposed to be introducing trains with an extra car but these seem pretty rare so far.

I commuted 4 hours a day for 2 years, it nearly killed me. Doing that amount of driving, then working a 12 hour shift, not recommended.

Pretty good today. I mean I still got to Bridge late, obviously, but only by 15 minutes or so which given the current service I'd probably rip your hand off for most days.

15 minutes late, train shortened from eight to six carriages, heater on full blast. Fun ******* times.
The East Grinstead line was also mentioned in parliament yesterday... Sir Nicholas Soames (Mid Sussex) (Con): ...May I also ask my right hon. Friend to turn his attention to the East Grinstead to Victoria line, which has been running with similar impediments and terrible inconvenience, largely because the rail companies cannot get enough people to drive the trains? Drivers are available, but they are apparently taking part in training courses. Things would be in a pretty pickle if British Airways did not have enough pilots, would they not? Mr McLoughlin: I am grateful to my right hon. Friend for acknowledging some of the difficulties and the difficult conditions facing those engineers working over the Christmas period in getting, as I have said, most of the schemes they embarked on back up and running on time; so when things go wrong, it is particularly disappointing. As to his point about the East Grinstead line, I will look at that, along with the Under-Secretary of State for Transport, my hon. Friend the Member for Devizes (Claire Perry). I would vote for any party that would give a cast-iron guarantee that they would re-nationalise the rail service.
I know you can't trust them, but the service is so shit, Network Rail are so so inept, that just the glimmer of hope that it could happen would earn a tick in their box from me. |

So your argument is because the state owned part of the Rail Network is hopelessly inefficient and massively rubbish to boot (and has been under successive governments), we should re-nationalise the rail service? I don't get it.

Those pictures really demonstrate the issues with the new layout. You can only see the departure boards from a small portion of the concourse now. I can see lots of people missing their trains due to not knowing where to go, or not being able to fight their way through to the platforms.

I now avoid London Bridge on the way out of London. As of the 10th, I won't travel via that hellhole of a station at all. |
