I agree - the NBC pundits (2 x Robbie: Earle and Mustoe) talk sensibly about the games without trying to get themselves into next day’s headlines. Arlo White and Lee Dixon are a good commentary combo too.

Very narrow field to choose from. Jenas looked like he might be a goodun, but it's almost as if someone like Merson put an insidious arm around his shoulder and said "less long words son, more 'park the bus', 'comedy of errors' and that sort of stuff." I fret he took it on board.
Gary Lineker the only other to spring to mind. But more for his overarching opinions - well, until he hosted the FIFA WC draw at least. That he once had to expain the word 'profligate' to a studio of other pundits on MOTD and was then mauled for it pretty much sums up football punditry. Surely there's someone out there that can manipulate words to form coherent sentences? Matt Lawrence would be ace. |

At least Hawksbee can host and control a three-hour radio show. What does Jacobs do? He can’t even read out stuff from the papers properly. Wanker

Take it you listened to him on 5Live as well the other night. He sounded like such an utter prick talking down and shouting over every caller.

Leroy Rosenior always used to compliment Palace. Merson is a bit shit.

Really like Danny Murphy. You can tell he does his research and actually watches our games. Paul Merson (despite not being able to speak) is normally quite complimentary as well.
Jermaine Jenas can piss off. Lazy, smug and just relies on cliches like Shearer and Keown.

Murphy is likeable because although he spent a decent amount of time at Liverpool, he is aware of clubs lower down the league and doesn't patronize them. It feels like he has more of an affinity towards Fulham than Liverpool (played about the same amount of games for both), so he feels a lot more balanced than the myopic top 6 crowd.
I thought Lee Dixon was decent, not sure why he left the BBC? More money? He seems to have a brain capable of independent thought and analysis at least (unlike Sutton, Mills etc who are numbskulls). |

Phil Neville has to be up there with the worst.
Nothing he says makes sense, bless him.

Ha Ha, he almost did some years ago, Hanson made a remark and O'Neil blew a gasket, he really laid into Hanson, (verbally)

I wonder where Ruud Gullit or Thierry Henry would feature on his list?

I really like listening to Merson and Warnock actually. Both have an outwardly huge passion for football which gives them good perspective and as a fan I find that is really easy to relate to.

When he stared out he was very good, almost borderline controversial. He's started to turn into a generic football pundit these days though, which is a shame.
