TV Setup question

Hi

Does anyone know of a standalone unit that can be added between a set top box and a TV in order to add a pause capability. The set top box I have has no record or pause function. replacing the box is not the option im looking for.

Thanks

My Samsung is about five years old now and has the record facility and it does pause TV if you use a fast enough USB stick. Most TVs for a while have had USB ports but you have check to see if it only plays pre-recorded material put on the stick or will record/pause live TV via the stick?

Not sure if there is any simple solution to pause TV to put between the set top box and the TV that wouldn't really just end up being a hard drive or SSD based digital video recorder that would really be a replacement for your existing STB. If your TV has additional inputs like HDMI in it would be better to use an additional box on a separate input and use this to watch live TV.

If you have WiFi and a additional HDMI inputs on the TV then you would be looking at the Chromecast/Roku/Fire type TV sticks and you would be able to watch and pause TV without the need for an external TV signal source. Android and Apple TV boxes do the same sort of thing but the sticks may be better just for watching broadcast TV.
