League Cup semi final against Arsenal. I think we lost the first leg at home 2-0. I had it in my head that if we got an early goal in the away leg it was back on. Like that was going to happen.

I think we were 2-0 down at half time (4-0 on aggregate) and people were queuing to leave the Clock End at half time.

Then I got on the tube and there was some IRA bomb scare thing and we were held in the tunnel for about an hour. So I didn't even get home early.

What year was this?

1993. And we lost the home game 3-1.

And we got relegated. Oldham year.

For me it was 1976 v Rotherham a midweek game we lost 4-1 had two players sent off and I was arrested for abusive and insulting language against the ref at the end of the game.

Watched it closed circuit in crystals, kinda thought we stood a chance, for about 5 minutes!

I wasn't there because my older brother wouldn't take me there.
Looking back, I fully understand. He was in his 20's, he'd been to evey round in that run and had a great jolly up. And on the special home with the players...!
The 76 semi final.
To make up for it he'd promised me he'd take me to Wembley to our first ever cup final should we beat Southampton. Which everyone of us thought we would.

I was told by a bunch of Palace fans that I was going to be killed after I left the stadium down at St Mary's for a meaningless League Cup game last season. All because they didn't agree on my assessment about how shite Sako was. My girlfriend was there with me too. Nice guys.

Oldham away 1980s. During the coldest winter spell that I've experienced : pre -warned I was kitted out in thermals.

Final game of last season against the w@nkers was tough viewing. All that way, terrible train journey and the game was lost within the first 10 minutes.

But the prize goes to Brighton 3, Palace 0

Watford away in the play off semi final back in '06 was fairly shit. My 18th birthday, good few beers in 'spoons to celebrate and soon thought there was an outside chance we could turn things around if we nicked an early goal... then within 10 minutes of kick off I drunkenly realised we had nothing to offer at all, we gave up before kick off at Selhurst and that's the way it was staying. We didn't even have the consolation of being in that home away from home away end behind the goal at Vicarage Road... just that trench of a side lower tier where any type of noise drifts up in to the night sky. Watford away is usually our bitch, not on the most important of nights there however.

Seeing Scunthorpe put four past us and a certain Sam Togwell pulling the strings in the 2009/10 season was quite painful to watch.

Usually the matches where i think 'what the ****?' like being thrashed to Sunderland last season, Ollie's last match against Fulham, the thrashing against Wigan 10+ years all turned out to be blessings in disguise in the long run anyway.

The obvious one is the Anfield 9-0, especially as I had my leg in plaster, but it was my first trip up there and I've always been proud to say I was there!! So instead I'm going for one that really did hurt and stuck in my throat for a long time......

Coventry in 1980, the famous Clive Allen disallowed goal game, that really did hurt!! We were in that corner and just couldn't believe it!!

And if we're talking worst actual games of football, probably being a palace fan far too many to mention, but I will mention Orient away 11.30 KO on a Sunday morning before Sunday games were invented,it was 0-0 and dreadful, especially after the high of beating them in the cup also at their place a few days before!!

I had a ball at that match. Was back packing in India and cut the trip short to get back for it. Only way I could get a flight was via Sri Lanka in the opposite direction. Landed in Gatwick I think fueled up, made it to Standstead and got to the pub to meet everyone for the day. Absolute mayhem.

I think PeterH will remember me even though I was without sleep for 48 hours and drunk as a skunk stopping Little Al from going into the bogs to **** up another BBS'er. How I explained to the policeman who stopped us that I'd calm him down and make sure no trouble happened I don't know. A real Trainspotting moment in Anfield.

Shit result, great away day.

I really can't remember anything about the game other than it was shite and we wore the sky blue with red sash away kit, playing Sunday morning seemed just so wrong back then and I think players AND fans just felt the same way about it, no-one wanted to be there!!

Burnley away in a Cup replay early 80s.Lost to a twice taken last minute penalty. The special train was stoned on the way out of the place and stopped. We all jumped off and started hurling railway ballast into the darkness where the stones were coming from.My mate ducked down to pick some more and when he popped back up I've done him full force in the back of the head.Out cold but thought I'd killed him.We still laugh about it now

Not sure if it was the same game, but I went up there midweek one time, think it was really windy. That away end was basically up on a mudbank, exposed to the elements.

The old uncovered away/neutral end at Fulham used to get cold too, with that wind off the Thames
