Disabled facilities
There are 115 spaces reserved for disabled fans, who get in free along with an assistant at concession price.

Norwich sends tickets to the away club, so please contact Karen in the box office at Selhurst. The disabled area is between the South Stand and the River End, and is shared with the home support. It is free for the disabled person - concession price for the helper. Parking is very limited, but please contact Norwich for details. Commentary for blind people is available in the disabled area.

The Ground and how to get there

Carrow Road is situated near to the Railway station in the Southeast of central Norwich. The pitch measures 114 yards ◊ 74 yards (approx 104 ◊ 68 metres) and the ground holds 22,021 fans.
The allocation for away fans is 2,300 tickets in the South Stand which is on one side of the pitch. The major drawback is there are a number of supporting pillars in this stand as well as little legroom between the rows of seats.

BY CAR:
From the North, East, South & West: by the Coming in from the Midlands or the North, Norwich is served A14, A11 and A47. Major trunk roads to the Norwich area are the M11 (via Ipswich from the South, the East of England and the ferry port of Harwich. Carrow Road is situated near to the Railway station in the Southeast of central Norwich. Carrow Road is linked by the Inner Ring Road (A147), Thorpe Rd (A1104) and the A47.

From the South - leave M25 at junction 28, where you join A12 following signs to Chelmsford. in about 10 miles at the junction with A106/B1002 follow signs to Colchester. In a further 26 miles at the junction with the A1124 follow signs to Ipswich. Proceed a further 17 miles and ten take the A14 (Bury St Edmonds). After 8 miles take the A140 to Norwich. In a further 32 miles, at the junction with the A47 follow signs for Great Yarmouth. After 2.5 miles exit at A146 to Norwich. At lights turn right, (City Centre A1054) At roundabout after 1/3 of a mile take 1st exit for County Hall car park, or 2nd exit for ground - keep in right hand lane and turn right into King Street (A47, Ring Road), over river, straight over at lights towards ground on right hand side.

From Ipswich (A140) - take 3rd exit at roundabout (Norwich E, Great Yarmouth A47, football ground) onto A47. After just over 2 miles exit A47 (Lowestoft A146). At lights turn left (Norwich A146) At T junction after nearly 2 miles turn right (Ring road, City Centre A1054) At roundabout after 1/3 of a mile take 1st exit for County Hall car park, or 2nd exit for ground - keep in right hand lane and turn right into King Street (A47, Ring Road), over river, straight over at lights towards ground on right hand side.

From West (A47) - at roundabout go straight on (Norwich E, Great Yarmouth A47). The A47 becomes the Norwich Southern Bypass. Stay on A47 for just over 10 miles. Exit at Lowestoft A146, Trowse, football ground sign.

If lost try asking for Colemanís Mustard Factory or County Hall, both of which are near the ground.

Parking

There were changes to the car parking arrangements for away fans at the start of the 1999-00 season. There has been major redevelopment of the site that backs on to the ground, and because of this the old car park is now a building site. Therefore the best car park for away fans is Norfolk County Hall, which is well sign posted on the left of the A146, as you follow signs towards the ground from the Southern Bypass. It is currently £2 and can hold about 2000 cars, and does usually fill up by 2pm for games where the away team bring loads of fans'.

The away coaches par in Lower Clarence Road, where there are spaces for cars too. 2.00 for cars and 10.00 for coaches.

There is a park and ride car park in Kerrison Road right next to the ground. It costs 2.00 which includes a bus ticket to the city centre - which still has to be paid even if you are only going to the ground.

By Rail
From the Station the Ground is a 10 minute walk from the station. Out across the car park to main road - sharp left along Riverside (river on right hand side). At lights turn left into Carrow Road.
Apparently Anglia Railways have a special two for one offer on until 22
September. Two adults return from 24.00 - i.e 12.00 each (accompanied kids just 2.00
each) Tickets must be booked at least two days in advance. Outward and return journey times must be nominated at time of booking. Credit/Debit card bookings only. I do know this offer is subject to limited availability.....but how many I do not know!!!!!!! To book you ring 01603 76 47 76 (between 10.00am and 6.00pm) and you MUST quote reference HO1.

Taxis cost around 2.50

Pubs
There are a number of good, friendly pubs situated in-between the train station and the ground. In fact you could end up having a pub crawl before the match had begun!

The Clarence Harbour - 81 Carrow Road
Football friendly pub, new restaurant area - extensive menu served 12-3 and in the evening from 6-9, 3 big screen televisions, pool room, families welcome, open all day. Near the ground and particularly popular with away fans. We certainly found it a good pub last year!

Coach and Horses, 82 Thorpe Road, open from 11am to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 477077). This pub is described in the GBG 2000 as "home of the Chalk Hill Brewery ... serving an excellent selection of competitively-priced ales, mild and cider. Quality food served from 12 noon to 9pm." It is near the station.

Jubilee, 26 St Leonard's Road, open from 12 noon to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 618734). This pub is described in the GBG 2000 as a "friendly, two-bar Victorian pub ... with a patio garden and an upstairs games room" which has a pool table. It serves food at lunchtime and is not too far from the station. Football snack menu - sausages etc.

The Compleat Angler is right outside the station - although may not be open for pre-match pint - but again was a welcoming pub last year.

The Kingsway and the Ferry Boat are both 5 mins from the ground and families are welcome at both.

Billy Bluelight, 27 Hall Road, open from 12 noon to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 623768). This pub is the Woodforde Brewery's flagship pub and sells (according to CAMRA's Good Beer Guide (GBG) 2000) " a wide range of their own brews, including the two house beers and guest ales." Food is served at lunchtime and you can even camp there apparently! It is not too far from Carrow Road.

King's Arms, 22 Hall Road, open from 11am to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 766361). This pub sells a wide range of real ales and at least one real cider and was (according to the GBG 2000) "voted No.1 Public House by readers of the Eastern Evening News." It is not too far from carrow Road and is near the Billy Bluelight pub, mentioned earlier.

Steam Packet, 39 Crown Road (behind Anglia TV), open from 11am to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 441545). This pub is described in the GBG 2000 as having "the best beer within easy reach of the Waterfont. ... No-smoking area available lunchtime." It also serves food at lunchtime and is not too far from the station.

Food

The Football Fansí guide is still recommending the fish & chip shop opposite the South Stand - however as was found out last year - itís been closed for 3 years!!! - so as an alternative there should be a burger bar on the corner by the visitors turnstiles or near the station is a pizza restaurant & takeaway which also does fish and chips. Kabin snack bar opposite the station by the river, does sandwiches and breakfasts. You can get a good, reasonably-priced meal in the Morrisons supermarket opposite the ground. But be warned that the service was slow last year, so allow plenty of time. There is also a Kentucky Fried Chicken opposite Norwich station.

Inside the ground - cornish pasties are said to be good.

Norwich itself is a beautiful city, with plenty of history to be seen and a nice river flowing through it. So if you get chance get there early and go for a pleasant wander around the centre stopping at the occasional watering hole along the way. Great Yarmouth is not far away on the coast so why not make a weekend of it?

See you at Carrow Road

Yes it was - as those of us who were sober enough to book it up (whilst the alcoholics
shuffled around the train station !) will testify !

Well I seem to recall one person crying, one babbling drunkenly down the phone to someone - and one completely out of it wearing his best shirt, who was supposed to be going clubbing.

I'm sure Monty also remembers shouting down the phone at a certain someone to try and get them to meet us by the B&B we'd found, whilst being greeted by drunken giggles from the other end of the phone
