My first away game at the goldstone ground in April 84 , I was 16 and all I really remember is we lost 3-1 and the mayhem that happened after the game , getting chased by police horses through the daffodils in the park opposite the ground , finally making it back to Hove station and more mayhem on the stairs that lead up to the station and once we where on the train it didn't move because of all the missiles that were being thrown down onto it , it was all just part of the fun of going to football with your mates back then

Was that the year when a few carriages were emptied and the palace lot were frog marched to Brighton station ?
I remember Issac sitting on the luggage rack throwing light bulbs at the weeds outside .

Monday night in the zds cup in 91 anyone? I was still on the wrong side of the advertising boards when we scored our 2nd goal in extra time.

The 2-1 win with the penalties was mad, also I remember a friendly match at the Goldstone think we won 3-0 cannot remember the year but I think Alan Smith was the manager

Good shout.
A mid season friendly the season after we were relegated from division one and Brighton were still there. Unfortunately a load of us found ourselves in the away compound in the Holmesdale.

It will be interesting if any of our resident weeds ( that is after a weed win) are going on Saturday, and their memories of previous games ?

What about the away friendly down there moved to a Friday night on police advice? The pebble fight on the beach was exhausting.

Can't remember what the year was but I think late 80's maybe the last league game against them at the Gallstone. Mayhem all day. Got train at East Croydon, loads got off at
Haywards Heath and raided an off licence near the station. Back on train off again at Preston Park into a pub, all kicked off. Into Brighton mate Gerry (RIP) got arrested for drunk and disorderly but got released as the cells were too full. At the end of the match gates in the away end got forced open , Brighton club shop got trashed and Palace trying to get in the away end. Fights outside in the streets and the park, one Palace fan giving a weed a right hiding in someone's front garden policeman turns up and just says to the Palace fan "come on you have had your fun move along" Back on train home stopped off somewhere( I cannot remember the place) all the Palace went into a pub and basically just served ourselves free beer.

Did all three of the cup run in 76/77. Don't let anyone tell you that the rivalry didn't start until after that!

Didn't see them throw it over the bridge. But it came down the steps carrying gas.

So many memories from my 1st away game which was at The Goldstone as a kid in '74 (I think). So packed in the away end that we ended up on the khazi roof. Mind you, The Goldstone was one big khazi.
A more recent memory though was when we beat them 3-0 at home in our promotion season. A lot of them got through the gates on the concourse of the new stand, saw that there was quite a few of us willing to say hello so promptly f*cked off back behind the gate leaving one of them stuck on our side of the fence.
