Hundreds of millions of quid in turnover 2011-16 with more to come yet still no sign of any new stands at Selhurst. Don't come to the ground often these days but in fairness saw the club had managed something spectacular v WBA. 2 for a cup of tea.

The fans were magnificent. Pity one or two of them who really would have the other fans best interests at heart aren't on the board.

The spirit and direction we had is not as strong and we are now, seemingly, just another daft smallish club playing 100k a week wages in order to stave off the inevitable relegation back to The Championship sometime over the next five or six seasons.

Pity.
I've thought the same for a while now, I don't really enjoy going anymore. I suppose it would help if we won the odd game at home. But i just go more out of habit.

A leeds fan i know was saying wow it must be brilliant at your club having gone from having a poor side in the championship to being able to rake in 40M sales and spend 50 odd million.

I never understand these sorts of comments, as if we should always be happy because we aren't in the Championship. We were told last year to dream bigger and think of the Europa league, but now after an awful 2016, I for one am pissed of leaving the ground with another loss, I'm now being told to be grateful, and look where we have come from?

Can't have it both ways, and when it goes wrong there will be flak, accept it.

What exactly are some of you sad acts expecting? Champions league football?

Jesus, We have had bad patches in the premier league before and come through them ok. Lets just ride it out and see where we go.

Yes, i know this is a message board for discussion but that doesn't mean the relentless moaning about the team, the manager, the board, the players, transfers, the ground, the training facilities and every other detail of the club needs to subjugated to this level complaint. And yes i know you've framed your question as have we peaked but we both know it is another (not needed) chance for people to moan.

These are the facts. In six years since nearly going out of existence, we have gone from a club at the bottom of the championship to being promoted to having finished 11th, 10th and 15th and, played at wembley 3 tiimes including reaching a cup final. We have beaten Chelsea and Man City in that time. We have broke our transfer record multiple times to bring in high quality international players, with the latest transfer of Benteke making us the 7th English club ever to spend more than 25 million on a player.

Seriously what more do you want??????????????

STOP ******* MOANING!!!!

Living a couple of miles from their ground I can confirm it can be a lot worse. Barnsley is close too!

this is a big season for us if we are to see further progression of the club if the worse was to happen and we dropped through the trap door this might put us back a few years unlike the likes Of Newcastle and villa's who have the fanbase in the Championship to sub stain keeping most of there best players at the club to bounce straight back our crowds would drop and would be looking at crowds of around 15-18k which would mean even though we would still have a wealth of cash coming in we would probably have to rebuild again as a lot of our best players would be off

We must start getting things right on and off the pitch the Manager has a lot to prove over the next couple of weeks who we might get in to add to the squad and whether he can turn results around we must not make the mistake Newcastle did last year and leave it to late to make a change if things carry on the way they are.

Is the club going backwards now?

We've just broken our transfer record by signing one of the best/effective strikers the premier league has seen in recent years. We've got a team that is arguably the best in my lifetime (possibly rivalled by the 1991 team). We've reach the cup final 4 months ago. The lack of progress with the ground is pain in the arse I grant you but is the club going backwards, absolutely not. In fact I don't recall us ever being so proactive as a club as we are now. I dare say, If the BBS was not around and nor social media you wouldn't be feeling the feelings you have now. Negativity eventually wears you down and ingrains into your head.

A 'good' season in the Premier League as last season apparently was will yield 39 goals and 11 wins, with just 19 goals and 6 wins at home. That's not much to satisfy the Palace cravings, compared to even a rank average Championship season. The level is largely irrelevant, a win is a win and a defeat is a defeat.

Then factor in the 2016 form, with only two league wins to celebrate all year, plus a hefty kick in the snatch in the cup final, and it's no wonder people are a bit down.

The amount of negativity by SOME Palace fans at every opportunity is beyond a joke.

Instead of moaning why not take your version of supporting the club and go and follow a club that takes winning trophies and European qualification as a failure if it is not achieved.

A different breed of fan has crawled out from under the woodwork since Palace were promoted that is for sure.

How many of these modern fans would have supported the club when they were in the Third division or League One as it is now called.

Palace were getting some crowds of 20,000 plus as a Third Division side and rarely would you have the luxury of standing under a roof protecting you from the elements.

Personally I had a season ticket for many years on the vast Holmesdale open Terrace but being rained and snowed upon was not even a consideration when it came supporting my local team as I was born within sight of the ground and Palace has been in my blood ever since.

How many of you moaning minnies would support the club under these circumstances.

You need to take a step back and look at where the club was and where it is now as they are truly world's apart and these are NOT bad times for Crystal Palace Football Club by any means.

I don't think we're going backwards but still have an old fashioned Championship club type mindset and other clubs are moving ahead of us.

You only have to look at Parish's requirements for the manager regarding being British and having a 'Palace connection'. In the modern day I don't think this works unfortunately - other clubs of a similiar size like Southampton, Swansea and Middlesborough are much more progressive when it comes to staff appointments. They go for the best man for the job rather than getting someone in hoping the nostalgia effect adds some kind of value.

Scouting wise I think we are light years behind some clubs. Being linked with the likes of Robson-Kanu, Ashley Young and blowing 30+ million on a out of favour striker from another Premier League Club shows we don't really have much of a scouting network especially when you compare it to the other clubs I mentioned and teams like Leicester, West Ham and Watford.

Plenty of reasons for optimism right now, but room for a little introspection too. We've enjoyed a virtually unprecedented period of forward momentum over the past six years, but it's understandable if some think we have temporarily stalled. Take away the Cup run and the last eight months have not been particularly special, to say the least.

This season is arguably the watershed for CPFC2010. Survive another year in the top flight, with a vastly improved but hugely expensive squad, and the dream of being "established" looks almost complete. Fail to right the ship and get relegated to the dogfight down below and a lot of the good work is undone.

I couldn't believe the number of kids in Palace shirts I saw miles from the ground in the hours after the WBA game. The fanbase is expanding and there's a genuine pride in the local team. I'd hate to see that fall away again and the usual Chelsea and Arsenal tops take over once more. Criticise all you like those people who voice fears for our club, but they love it as much as you do and just want to see it succeed.

I've said it in different contexts before now but progress is not always linear. If it was, every team that was progressing would be winning the league - but that, of course, is impossible.

The barometer of our progress should be in how the club is viewed and perceived. I've had a few (non-Palace) colleagues at work last season and this season suggest to me that Palace are a team that should not be flirting with relegation and are looking up rather than down. When in our Palace supporting lifetimes would that have been a reality? We are attracting players like Cabaye and Benteke who actively want to come and play here (and in both of their cases the manager has been a big factor in that which doesn't seem to get acknowledged in the sea of 'Pardew is ******* useless' posts). On top of that we have a pool of wealthy owners / backers giving us financial security outside of the PL bubble.

There is a way to go, of course, in different aspects of the club. There also is no room for complacency or a view of 'we've made it' because that is when things unravel at speed. However, as another poster put it, we are at a time where chunks of what we built the success on need replacing before it gets stale. In many respects our counter-attacking qualities have been nullified by teams simply working out that if you give us the ball and sit in, we can't really do a hell of a lot of damage. It is only right that we look to evolve our threat (jury is out on whether Pardew can deliver it) but it is imperative that we change our approach by hook or by crook because we need to give opposition managers something to really think about. I think our best XI when playing together could give us a real glimpse of that.

This transition is perhaps most clearly signposted by the sale of Jedinak. It is a sale that I fully understand and I feel, like with Bolasie, we've cashed in at a time where the players value is likely to reduce over the next 3-4 years. I suppose I've found the angst over the Jedi sale a little surprising, albeit understandably so. However, given that teams have worked out that us having possession = blunt threat, we need to develop to where possession is king and let us see how we fare.

Current form aside, I see nothing to suggest that this club as a whole is in decline.

Yep. I was on that terrace religiously season in season out since the early 1970's and was one of the 4,000 in 1984-86. In four and a half decades of being a Palace supporter one thing I have learnt is that spirit and direction and a sense of building something = a terrific atmosphere on and off the pitch which shows in the team and it's not all about money. From the John Jackson promotion days to that team of 1978/79 and through to the Coppell/Bright and Wright era and finally the 2010-2015 lot.

Arthur Wait - We need you again.
