Remainers in comparison are so good at explaining their position and benefits of being in the EU that they lost the referendum to the Leave vote

IMO a second referendum campaign would turn into a bloodbath - even if you could come up with an acceptable binary question. (No one knows what leave actually means and multiple choices wouldn't work)

Would you agree that the Leave vote victory was down to emotion rather than reason?

Think this is a huge miscalculation by Farage, almost as bad as when TM called the last election. The difference is she was 22pts in the lead. Leave are 10pts behind. I sense it's because he wants UKIP and himself to remain relevant given the drubbing at the last election. If he wins or loses the next referendum ukip will get a boost, arguably more so if the vote is to remain

An occasional troll on the brexit thread - sadly yes.

But this seems just another excuse not to explain the elusive "leave" position.

Such a disappointment.

Perhaps the lovely Blair, Clegg and all their industry lobbyist allies could put together a proposal as to what the question would be and how would the vote operate? Then we could consider it. I've been waiting for over a year for the remain leadership to put forward ideas as to why the working class and provincial communities should change their mind and all you get is the "you're thick and racist" or "you have been mislead" approaches along with doom and gloom. They really should have indicated that they had learned why people revolted against the status quo and come up with alternatives, but they haven't. It shouldn't be that hard. So far, the only political leader who actually gets it, I think, is Corbyn.

And Caroline Lucas - but sadly she's a lone voice crying in the wilderness of our shitty unrepresentative political system.

Attention seeking trying to keep himself relevant. Though tactically very damaging for the Tories. They only had the referendum to try and nullify UKIP. A second referendum, with UKIP trotting out bonkers stuff the Tories won't match, would reignite them. Tories stuck either going further right to try and nullify them (pissing people off) or refusing to (pissing people off).

Ah good point. Unfortunately, she is an MP for an area with a football team I dislike so we can be excused for ignoring her.

There was a referendum to change it, and Labour and the Tories closed ranks to ensure we didn't. So we'll have FPTP for a good while to come I should think.

I would agree with you that Remain has been poor at putting its arguments forward clearly, calmly and succinctly to Brexit supporters. And figureheads have either been bullied by the likes of Johnson and Farage or have lost credibility (Clegg, Blair).

He knows what he's doing Richard. He's attention seeking. And he got the attention he wanted.

Bit daft to suggest the issue here lies with the way parts of the press have reported it.
