Well the labour right won't unite no matter what the members want. It's just the way it is, and I don't really have the answers.

I think the labour right would happily see Labour burnt to the ground rather than go along with what the majority of members want.

Except, of course, that JC is truly awful as a party leader*. Perhaps if there was someone capable of advancing a similar viewpoint but who wasn't inept then it might stand a chance.

*Note: Thinking JC is a piss poor leader isn't an endorsement for any of the candidates that stood against him

I don't know what impact it would have had, but it would have been nice to have had a Labour leader who believed in the EU and who was willing to fight tooth and nail to keep us in it

I think he's an OK leader. Certainly worse leaders than him have won elections.

But the main issue is that the centre and right won't accept what the members have voted for. Worse than that they want failed politics that are decimating centrist politics across Europe.

If there was a better socialist leader I would go for them. At present there isn't and the right of labour would not accept any socialist leader.

A purely non-legal position, that'll have no bearing on the outcome: Pannick for the challengers has the advantage that his points can be readily understood by the layperson. For me, Eadie, for HMG, was too often convoluted & on some points contradictory. No idea who'll win this but I know who makes more sense.

Simply because she has been playing safe by pretending to be as Brexit as UKIP. She is worried about her slim parliamentary majority slipping away by not being seen to be embracing a leave agenda.

Having played that card as far as she can, she now has to accept the reality, and the game is up, and Labour has forced the issue upon her so that now she has no choice but to do the right thing and reveal her plan. However, don't expect anything clear or profound from the queen of equivocation, but it has to be more than Brexit means Brexit.

It was also clear today that the outcome of this case could create a new limit on Royal prerogative. Moreover, publishing a plan should inevitably lead to Parliament holding Ministers to account on whatever is is in it. Now, I personally welcome that but as that was a risk why take it when all HMG had to do is was publish a short Bill?

So May is testing MPs today with a vote for parliament to approve the invoking of A50 by March next year.

Of course this will get approved, but she just doesn't get it does she.The problem is not whether to invoke it sooner or later, or even at all, but to ensure she has got a decent plan in place for Britain before it happens.

The test that matters is for her and her Brexit team, not for MPs.

Exactly. This is a further example of May's poor judgement. She could now restrict the very principle she wanted freedom on.

And she is leading us.
