Drive for Travan TR-4 tapes
I don't know if this has been covered previously - I suspect not - but my neighbour Rob has a problem with obsolete hardware. Recently obsolete, given that he was buying the tapes within the last 6-7 years.
Rob has backup tapes containing data he would now like to store on a contemporary medium (natch) but cannot find anyone with the necessary drive with which to download the files. Ideally, he would like a shop or even a bureau service which could do the job. Here are the details: "I have Travan tapes (type TR-4 [90mm x 70mm x15mm]) that are 4GB, and 8GB compressed. My Seagate ‘Datastor’ tape drive has died and I now wish to copy data from the tapes to CD." So that's it. If anyone can help, I'm sure he'd be very grateful. Cheers, oh computer people. ![]()

Has he looked on ebay for a replacement drive? What is the drive model?
My mate at Key Technical might have a drive or could try and find a replacement for him, try giving Ginger or Tony a ring on 020 8646 7717 during office hours.
