Broadband Speeds
Everywhere around me, at work, friends etc, keep saying that their broadband connection has been upgraded for no extra cost.

I am with freeserve (wanadoo), and was wondering if that is the case with them? I have not been able to notice any difference.

I was on 512k with wanadoo, I upgraded to a 1.1MB for a score I think. Its on the homepage, just check it out there.

I was on 1.1 with BT, got upgraded to 2.2 without asking. Still takes bloody ages to connect though.

Everyone is getting upgraded. Wannadoo is the only company that is passing the £20 charge onto it's customers. Pipex, AOL ect who are benifiting from BT's upgrade programme are upgrading thier customers and paying the £20 per upgrade fee themselves.

NTL are upgrading my 700k to 2MB as from the end of the month.

I'm on Eclipse - unfortunately no upgrade seems to be on the horizon.

I've heard good things about freedom2surf - 24.99 a month for 2mb broadband (50gb limit is very sufficient).

Just phoned NTL and asked why im paying the same price as new customers for half the speed.
They said they are going to change my set top box for a new silver one (the missis will be pleased with that) at the end of the month. 2mb from 750k. Nice.

Wanadoo upgraded me to 1 MB for free 6 months ago. But I have been with them since late 2002 so maybe that's why.

This speed is good for streaming live footie. Fingers crossed I'll be able to see the Chelsea match on Sat.

Plus Net are going up to 8Mb I think, but have different price plans for different download limits (upload not included).

Sounds good, but I am a bit sceptical.

Not heard a thing from wanadoo, had them for quite a while, can't remember the exact date but they haven't said a thing about getting upgraded!
