Hands up who laughed when..
Bryan Robson was appointed manager of WBA. I thought that's it they are down.
However, after a few quality signings in the transfer window (the main reason why we are staring at relegation) they are in my view favourites to stay up. How things can change in a few matches, I am still hoping we can do it. I won't give up even if we need to win our last game 5-0 and all the other lose 5-0!!! |

They have a bitch of a run-in. Though I just did the predictor thing on the BBC website, and still had them finishing 15th ahead of Fulham, Portsmouth, Southampton, Palace and Norwich. Despite that, looking at the fixtures till the end of the season I'm a bit worried that Norwich could get out of it, and having developed a real hatred for Delia this season I'd rather anyone but them.
![]() I'm probably less surprised than some at Robson's success, because he did do a good job with Middlesbrough. Things got bad towards the end, but bringing in Terry Venables as his "assistant" always struck me as a far worse move than anything Robson did himself, and his hands were well and truly tied during his stint at Bradford. He's done a great jon with WBA. Who will stay up? Heart says Palace, head says West Brom or Southampton.

They threw money at their problems - it's hardly surprising they have picked up a little bit. I still reckon they'll go down (with us and Norwich).

I thought it was an appointment that would mean that they would be down by miles.
I hold my hands up as that being poor judgement. But I think it will be Naaarwich that will stay up. |

Just wait till the end of the season. I think Norwich have a better chance of staying up than WBA ~ particularly with all the help they are getting from dodgy refs and so called big teams (Newcastle, Man Utd) chucking points at them.

I said it before and I will say it again.
We should have gone in for Kevin Campbell, it's no secret that W.B.A are a new side since he arrived. It still angers me to see the fact that he was experinced Premiership striker, avalibale on a free, with a proven track record and he joined our Premiership basement rivals. It tells you all you need to know about the lack of ambition this club had in Januray.

As I said halfway down this page in November Bryan Robson has been unfairly tainted as a bad manager and whilst he did spend a bit of money at Boro it wasn't as much as you may have thought (especially considering he made a load of money from selling players too) and most of the money signings only hung about for a season or two.
Lets not forget Robson is also Boro's most successful boss in the league since the Jackie Charlton days and has far better record in the Premier League than McLaren does (despite relegation which only came after Boro were deducted points oh and he brought them straight back up as champions)and he also took Boro to the first 3 cup finals in their history (all within the space of 18 months). Robson's only crime at Boro was that he stayed too long without going forward, when things went stale the team started to sink, the fans turned on him and he had to go. Had Robbo left Boro a season or two earlier he would have been in line for a top job and hailed as Middlesbrough's greatest boss since Charlton... In January I also had this to say about WBA not been as bad as people thought and here is where I told you all to put your money on West Brom staying up in Feb ![]()

I had a little chuckle, especially after his mad attempts at saving Bradford. But I don't think he's altogether a bad manager. If he had the funding Dowie has had I doubt he would have done any better, but had Robson come to Palace with Earnshaw, Kanu et al we'd have a better chance of staying up than we have now!
There, I've said it ![]()

Laugh? As soon as I heard he'd got the job I put 50 quid on them to go down.
