Because Capital is so dire, I have been shaving and showering to the airs of Classic FM for several months now. Nice and relaxed.
Going to the Last Night of the Proms at Palace Park on the 26th August as well. Lovely. ![]()

I am a real ignoramus when it comes to the Classics but I have recently bought the Marie Callas 'Greatest Hits' so to speak on cassette and it is good.
Have to admit to liking Mozart, a bit of your Chopin, in fact anything with the Piano as the main instrument. I want to like Wagner given that he is a favourite of one of my all time hero's in life but I find him a bit to OTT. Opera is also something that I would like to explore a lot more but there seems no real point to start out so if anybody could recommend a book or a web site it would be appreciated.

Capital seem to have worked out a different song to follow each advert. So, after an advert, you always know whats coming?
My Dad listens to Classic FM and I have to admit, it's (some of it) pretty good to listen to whilst driving fast thought the countryside. ![]() |

I like a bit of Mozart's Requiem, myself, even if he didn't write all of it.
The Marriage of Figaro is also tops, although I wouldn't advise going to see it if you've never been to an opera before. It's 4 hours long, so not good for your piles.

You might try Schubert's Unfinished Symphony (Smurphs incidental music!) or Mendellsohn's Italian Symphony. Mozart's Requiem is great, but I've always preferred Faure's.
