Todays Interesting Facts!
DANNY Granville is set to decide his Crystal Palace future this weekend.
The 30-year-old full-back is out of contract, but has been offered a new deal by the Eagles. His agent Bill Jennings confirmed terms will be discussed this weekend. Jennings said: "I'm quite positive something will be sorted after this weekend, and we'll go to see Bob Dowie (Palace's director of football) next week." Ipswich boss Joe Royle will be keeping tabs on Granville. He took him to Manchester City from Chelsea in 1999 for £1million and is in the hunt for a left-back. But Jennings said: "Danny is a London boy. He's done his stint up north and would like to stay in the capital." Another out-of-contract defender, Darren Powell, has been in talks with Championship rivals Reading. Former Palace boss, Royals manager Steve Coppell, has been after the player for two years. He wants assurances over his fitness after Powell missed a lot of football last season through injury. Coppell said: "We are just talking at the moment. He had a few injury problems which is a risk for us, so we have to weigh those things up." The Eagles have spoken to out-of-contract striker Shefki Kuqi, and are also tracking Sunderland midfielder Sean Thornton.

'He's done his stint up north…' I love that, especially as he's being linked with, erm, Ipswich (somewhere near the arctic circle aren't they?)

Why would he leave here to go to Ipswich? It's not as if they are in a position to offer him more money or greater career prospects.
He'd be mad to leave here, unless a prem club comes in for him, which is pretty unlikely. |

Does anybody know the length of Granvilles contract, because i cant see him being here to much longer with Borrowdale pushing for a starting place.

Hope DG signs. We'd have to get another left back to cover the promising but is-he-up-to-46-games-this-season Borrowdale anyway.

Granville has been the most improved player since Dowie arrived. He was shocking under Francis but as gone onto be a solid defender, who chips in with some goals.

I think so too - he'd certainly be worth hanging on to for next season.

I hope he stays, he is more than good enough for the championship and whenever I criticise him he scores the next game.

In his interview with SKY, SJ said that Danny was close to signing a 2 year deal.
He also said Freedman had signed his deal on Friday.

I hope he signs. But borrowdale deserves his chance now and i think he should start. Fair play to Granville though. He was probably our 3rd highest goalscorer or something last season.

Not sure what to make of it. Yes he has improved, but is he going to improve more? I guess we cant get better than him in our division (apart from Shorey).

IS Granville taking a pay cut. I recall hearing that he was on a big weekly salary 12-15k or something. I don't think he (or come to that any) of our players should get that much in wages in the CCC.
