I wonder if Real Madrid will match the offer and whether Liverpool can afford to reject the offer.

to be honest I think he'll be worth every penny...the man dragged Liverpool through last season. There aren't many players who could do that. Would love to see his partnership with Lampard develop too...would be great if they could play together before the world cup

It'll be a good move for both Liverpool FC and Gerrard. The fans will hate it though, so the ensuing blame-game should be interesting, both will try and make it sound like they did everything they could. I'm sure that was the purpose of Benitez's press conference yesterday, he just wanted to make it sound like Gerrard was nuts for leaving. Let's face it, under normal circumstances you would never say that a player will succeed you as manager; he knew Gerrard would be gone in a few days.

£32m is just silly money, Liverpool can't realistically turn it down, Chelsea may as well just offer £1bn
