Terraces at Cardiff
Why are Cardiff allowed to have terraces. I thought all Premier and CCC grounds had to be all seaters.

you are allowed it in the championship, and i think your allowed them for 1 year in the premiership as long as you have plans to replace the terrace with seating! ! ! ! ! otherwise teams like cardiff are showing lack of ambition by not placing seats on their terracing as the message they are sending out is that they dont plan to get promoted! ! ! !

You are allowed them for up to three years in the Chapionship from when you get promoted.
If they don't go down, Cardiff have got some serious redevelopment to do next year.

I don't think their new stadium will be finished for a few years yet, but I can't imagine they'll be doing anything to Ninian Park in the mean time.

i wouldnt spend a penny on ninian park, not worth it at all, money would be better spent on actually paying their players! ! !

Ninian Park is an awful ground. But the worst ground in the premiership was Pompeys it was awful

pompey is being revamped, they have been redevloping the area for a good 3-4 years. i tihnk fulham is also pretty shoddy, with no plans to reconstruct either. The plans got thrown out of the window and no new ones have been proposed.

Not if they just bolt seating on the terraces. |

bolting seats to the terraces is not as easy as it sounds for health and saftey reasons + it is very costly.

The Irish do that for footie internationals at Landsdowne Road and Cardiff would only have to do it once as well. If it has concrete plans to move stadium, I would have thought the League would let it continue with terracing, until its complete.

As I have kept saying, Ninian Park is a true football ground and is a vestige of what makes football great. Who wants to see the game full of identikit mechano stadia as is the norm thesedays? Pompey is the same, and the atmosphere at Fratton Park probably beats any other ground in the country. Football is becoming far too limp wristed in my opinion. |

pompey's atmosphere is amazing because its a sell out every week and all the fans love it and get behind the team! ! ! !
i would like to see terracing brought back into the game but you can see the health and saftey issue. |

Not really, the Taylor report was a whitewash and terracing was unfairly blamed for the Hillsbrough disaster. I see absolutely no reason why if done properly terracing cannot be brought back. Anyway this was done a while back and is probably worth a separate thread in itself. You're right about Pompey but the ground is intimidating by virtue of the fact its a shit hole and teams don't like playing there. You can't replicae that in a modern stadium. Who's scared about going to Pride Park or the KC Stadium? [the latter had the most pathetic atmosphere I think I've ever heard when Hull played Luton on tv yesterday] |

Hope they dont get rid of the Tudor buildings at Fratton Park, weird but unique!
But Ninian Park is a real dump, thats for sure. |

Personally I'm all for terracing. The atmosphere is dire at some of these 'new' grounds. Man City had 42000 v Palace last year, the atmosphere was pathetic. Roker atmosphere walks all over Stadium of Light. I like the traditional old grounds. |

The home areas weren't sold out yesterday. Lots of empty blue seats evident behind the goal.

Definately not a sell out every week.
My friends have asked me a few times whether I'd like to go. Obviously, with Palace playing, there's no chance. I think fans are being priced out of going. The same is happening at quite a few teams, Birmingham is another one. |
