Would you play for the enemy
Hyperthetical question obviously.
If you were a pro footballer and were having a transfer from your current club would you put all personal emotions aside even if it meant playing for your teams arch rivals? It occured to me whilst thinking of a few players i've heard off who have and haven't. I read once that Carl Asaba was a palace fan yet moved to millwall and bobby zamora would'nt join us as we were brightons enemy (albeit he was concerned for his safety) Basically would your heart rule your head Just your thoughts really in a hyperthetical world. |

I would play for any club in the country if it meant I could be a pro-footballer.

I am so bad, it would be like a secret mission to screw up Millwall / Brighton

Too many factors to quickly summarise, but I'd never say never.

It's about career - I would play for any club which does the best for me and my family.

I think it depends on the player. If the player in question was a fan of the club as a lad and there family were big supporters then i think they would find it difficult but for most players i think they would be happy to move to a rival. After all playing football is a job and if the rival team offered more money then they would sign. |

Personally no but I reckon most players tend to lose the whole supporter mentality the moment they start playing and probably judge their choice of club on financial/football reasons. There are exceptions obviously, Teddy Sheringham who said he'd never play for Arsenal is one, then again he joined West Ham after being a Millwall legend so I guess that's a bad example.

As a pro footballer if you refused to look at a club because they were your club's 'arch enemy', you'd be stupid, you don't cut youir nose off to spite your face.

I don't think I could bring myself to put on a Brighton shirt! Though it would be funny to kiss my Palace tattoo after scoring an own goal

I've often thought that I would like to be a pro footballer and if I couldn't play for Palace I'd play for anyone else, but would have a clause written into my contract that I didn't have to play against them or be involved in games which might be detrimental to their cause, and generally go all out to earn myself a move to Selhurst Park.

I would play in goal for Brighton, just imagine how many goals you could joyfully let in , and you could cash in too with a Malaysian betting sindicate.
