George Best - El Beatle (Watch It)

Deserves a thread of it's own so everyone can see the vid.

Wonderful set of clips from George Best's playing days. Enjoy...

Take a look how many times he could have gone down but carried on to score unlike so many of todays players who would be screaming on the floor.......Good ole days,I'm getting old.

He was a truely amazing talent. Wow.

An unrivalled talent in footballing terms I would say. Put todays footballers onto the kind of pitches he played on, and they probably wouldn't compare.

Its just a shame that his personality took such a bad route.

Brilliant stuff. Makes world class defenders look so clumsy.

Love the bit where the guy steps on his foot. George stops, takes off his boot, and then passes the ball! Class!

Also saw one of his goals from the Euro Cup final. The ball is passed to him from behind, he hooks the ball with his leg and it then just seems to disappear into his leg, and then re-appear in front of him once he's past the defender. They kept showing it and I still couldn't work out how he did it.

Another clip missing is when he's standing still with the ball, goading the defender to challenge him. Eventually the defender goes for it, he sidesteps and is off towards goal...

I noticed that...he was hacked on some occasions but carried on....people often forget that he was a winger who scored 180 goals for MU all in the top division, how many other wingers score anywhere near that amount of goals.
People also forget that Best came out of retirement to play at Fulham and Hibs, both teams showed a huge increase in match day attendences, something, that only the "few" greats could do.

Not old enough to have seen him first hand, but hopefully it's magic like that that people will remember him for. Quite amazing footage, truly unbelieveable at times. I can understand why so many people idolise(d) him now.

Fantastic footage and I watched it with a lump in my throat. Wish they had shown him playing for Fulham, when he and Rodney Marsh, playing on the same side in a bona fide league match tackled each other!
