Googled to try and find any references to punk gigs at Cartoon in 70s but couldn't readily find any. However, I did come across a site about a drummer called Phil Little who played at The Gun, which I knew did gigs, but also he refers to "a Youngs pub in West Croydon market" which must be The Dog & Bull and I hadn't realise that it had ever been a music venue.

I was at that It Bites gig too. Great band. Very underrated. I played at The Cartoon once. Nice venue. Good size, good sound. Shite area.... Saw Roachford play there once - he/they were quite good. Best gig I ever saw in the Croydon area was Thomas Dolby at the Green Dragon in 1982. |

I played the cartoon once, sh*t sound engineer f*cked it all up for us, never again. Have seen some pretty good blues bands at the denmark in portland road before it closed down, the gun in sth croydon used to be pretty good! Have seen the hamsters at the cartoon & hang the drummer, always good for a laugh. Once saw project x at the prince of wales in t-heath, didn't take themselves to seriously, f*ckin great band.
