Yesterdays game

To be honest, i really enjoyed last night. I thought the atmosphere was going to be dreadful when i turned up at the ground, but it wasn't to bad at all. Good bit of banter between the two sets of fans.

I thought the game was much better than the 0-0 scoreline suggested aswell. The first half was pretty awful to be honest with saints just shading it. But the second half was pretty entertaining stuff IMO, with palace dominating for large periods. I felt a 0-0 draw was a fair result. I didn't feel you killed us on the night (like i and many others expected). You probably had the better chances but we could so easily have nicked it at the end with pahars' run and shot.

The real disapointment for me last night was andy johnson. He was truely awful! When we played you in the premiership last season at st marys he ripped our defence to shreads. I genuinely believed that he had a chance of making the World Cup squad before the game. Now, i feel he hasn't got chance. Last night he should have scored at least 2 or 3 times.

I can't believe you didn't start freedman. Macken was hopeless. How dowie picks him ahead of freedman is beyond me. Also i was impressed with the black lad who came on for watson. Not sure of his name but he impressed me.

Also, pleased that you enjoyed our catering (bar the rubber burgers). That is something that our wonderful chairman seems to brag about every minuted of the day

I'd say you still have a very good chance of promotion. If i was a palace fan i would be feeling very positive about the next few months. We played as well as i have seen us play last night for a very long time. And if you look at it as two points lost then you can't be in a bad position.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Nice enough comments. You're probably more satisfied with a point than we are, on another day, had AJ been on form, we'd have put three or four past you.

You're "bad-mouthing" our strikers when you've got Kenwyne Jones....worst player on the pitch by a country mile, hopeless, trampoline like control.

Good to hear down at St Mary's you like to wear a rubber while buggering someone.

The sub you refered to is Wayne Andrews. You wouldn't believe how ridiculed he is by Palace fans. That was as a striker. He's now a converted winger and he's better in that position.

AJ's still got a way to go to regain his sharpness after coming back from a nasty knee injury.

Southampton are a real bogey side for us. Can't remember the last time we beat you.

Well..... To be fair on poor old kenny, he doesn't have the reputation that Morrison, Macken, Freedman and AJ have.

But i have to agree with you. He is ••••••• shite.

Great post. An independent view that mirrors what many get slated for saying on here. Shame we didn't play you Saturday.

I thought Kenwyne Jones seemed to be a young player with potential. He is very young but his ability to leap and jump high and win balls in the air is a valuable asset for a team. He appeared to lack confidence and the Saints fans got on his back and this will make him panic. I thought the best thing for him would be a season long loan to a Div 1 or 2 side for a year where he could learn his trade, get some good coaching and build his confidence which would help him realise his potential, which I think could be quite good.

Good post Saint Phil!! Have to agree with you concerning Macken, and im sure others would agree. I've no idea how hes ahead of Freedman and Morrison, and has only hit two league goals (correct me if im wrong) this season. This Jones chap still sounds like a promising young target man, just get behind him and try to boost his confidence. Whilst on the subject of your young strikers, any idea what this Best chap is like that we're after, can't work out why we're getting another striker!

If I could make the noise of a drum roll with a cymbal crash at the end I would

so you'll have to settle for a 'Boom Boom' instead

The act is really coming along - You remind me of a young Paul Squires BB

Interesting reading the Kenwyne Jones comments when you consider where he is now compared to our 'amazing' strikers on that list!
