Great British music
This week on radio 1 they are celebrating the 'brits' this week by playing only british music from past and present, fantastic!
Forgot how good the music we produce is, tracks such as Wonderwall - Oasis All you need is love - beatles Bittersweet symphony - the verve Dont look back in anger - Oasis Hey jude - beatles just but a few to mention, makes me think why we have so much american stuff coming across our airwaves. Is this British or English music then? Manic Street Preachers, Aztec Camera, Danny Wilson, Super Furry Animals and Edwyn Collins all Great British artists too but not English.

From that list perhaps the Beatles might still be known, and listened to , in 100 years ( and even then, it will be more to do with hype rather than the reality of them being just a bunch of Mop head Mickeys who struck lucky ) but the rest will be forgotton. |

Agreed All of those songs, with the possible exception of Hey Jude, make me want to commit acts of unspeakable violence. At least U2 didn't get a mention. ![]() |

They are not the best Oasis songs IMO.
Acquise, Columbia and Champagne Supernova for me |

Probably for the same reason that Bjork, Elvis Presley, Springsteen, the Ramones, Beethoven, Plastic Bertrand, Puccini and Greig weren't mentioned. |

Sorry, didnt hear that one playing. But yea, that song reminds me of getting dragged under the crowd when they did it at there gig at finsbury park in 2002. Hang on there playing fleetwood mac and just had queen too, class!! 'Dont stop me know' by queen = great tune |

Tony Greig? I think if you've captained the MCC, and release a record, it should be counted as British.

Swervedriver.
For some reason they are less popular here in the UK than they are in Australia.
