Rusedski Wins On Clay?
Beating Tommy Robredo in 3 sets at the Rome Masters.
Now either Robredo was playing with one leg or Greg has suddenly found that he can hit a good topspin backhand. Absolute madness.

I remember a few years back in the 1st round of the French Open. Rusedski was playing Albert Portas who had won the Masters Series in Hamburg the week before so nobody gave him a chance........Rusedski went on to completely dominate and outclass Portas

it was only robredo, one of the weakest minded players on tour.

But a good top spin forehand, volley and serve. In his hay day he could and did beat anyone

Admittedly no grand slam titles though. Really ought to have won 1997 US open

Why do you say that? Rafter played him off the court and is by far the better player.

Henman through and Murray out. Life in the old dogs yet, and Murray seems to be struggling to find his feet on clay.

What I have noticed in Rusedski's game recently is that he has worked on his sliced backhand, getting it to have more bite and making it deeper as well. It used to be just a tactic to keep him in rallies and set him up for a chip and charge or a big forehand, but with the extra bite, he can use it to dominate rallies more and it surprises opponents who target it.

Henman wins again as well, it's silly season over in Rome.

Pete, spare me. The reason he's winning is because he's 110% focussed, and, a better player than a guy like Galvani (a challenger). As for Robredo, well, the bloke's a pea hearted latino joker, like most of them. The plastic pom's making money in one of his last seasons on the tour. He gets in on ranking alone, and is playing for a first round cheque. If he gets further, then so be it. ![]()

On clay, Rusedski would lose to anyone, even challengers. I've seen quite a few games of his recently and noticed the change he has made, it's not enough to do anything more than allow him to win a few matches that he should win anyway. But, if you haven't watched him, you don't know, so please be quiet.
