Andreas Mayer
One local press site in Ulm stating that creative midfielder Andreas Mayer will have a trial with Palace this summer. He's been Ulm's player of the season, scoring 25 goals in 32 games, playing behind a lone striker. Also a reputation for getting stuck in. Nothing on the bigger sites mind you, so it may be total carp.

I worry about ID's record with foreign flair players - Kolkka, Kaviedes, Reich. He always tends not to fancy them long term as they don't track back, do the physical stuff etc.

Agreed, but Mayer has been sent off for fighting this season (against their local rivals!) & been booked 10 times too. Has a reputation for mixing it up when need be.

Yeah we need good local lads who can rough it, like.... Freedman, Routledge and McAnuff! I think the problem lies with flair players, not with nationality.

Mayer now been told not to bother to come for trial at Palace, although apparently Col U and Swansea have been in touch too. Guess he was something to do with Iain Dowie then.
