New French manager
What about a foreign manager?
Arsenal have Arsene. What about Monsieur Crystale Le Pallace ? Or failing that, Littbarski did a good job at Sydney United. Ok-he's German, but I didn't think of getting vaguely serious until I'd typed in the thread name. Last edited by steve hail : 23-05-2006 at 10:38 AM. |

Lombardo?
Actually, Palace have a nearly unique record of having only ever had ONE Scottish manager in our history. Alex Maley in the 30's.

The new version of Arsene Wenger, whoever he might be, would stand no chance with Palace. He would be condemned before he had begun by people who know jack in the stands, and would be given no time.
God alone knows how Steve Coppell managed to hold onto the job for the first couple of years*. But then that was at a time when Palace fans in general had a modicum of patience compared to some of the morons around these days that expect us to be 2-0 up within the first 5 minutes or they'll get on the players' backs. *Actually it was because his Chairman realised he needed to give him time to turn the club around, slim chance of that nowadays.

Wasn't Bert Head Scottish or did he just sign lots of players from Scotland? |

Actually, I wasn't joking about Littbarski. I saw Sydney play three times live and a few times on tv. They played very attractive football.
Ok - it might not win the CCC, but if you really want good football maybe you should take a chance on a manager who has a track record of playing good football. Very few English managers fit the bill. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manure (after Fergie has gone, if you don't count Scots), Liverpool, bloody Spurs even... And he has the added benefit of not being French. Read the above and tell me that he wouldn't be a good candidate. Yes - I did notice the bit where it claims Sydneysiders said the style of play was boring, but (a) that's not how I remember it and (b) they are all Rugby League fans and don't recognise football as good if the score isn't at least 10 all. Bert Head was a west country lad, though he did have a thang about Scottish players. |

Is Jack any good? Perhaps we should give him a go. |
