Possibly Sarkies replaced by Patafta (better)
Plus some good young talent for depth (Broxham etc.)
Archie and Danny still up front
Brebs and Musky still in midfield
Theo still in goal
Leijer, Vargas and Pior still in defence.

We've replaced what we've lost with even better players, but still kept most of it. There is no logical reason why we should fail

I wont be convinced about Hernandez, until he actually starts to play, how many SAmericans have promised so much, yet fail to deliver away from their homeland. All the other teams have supposedly strengthened as well.

How did the pre-match go Jimmy, hope the PMelbourne girls went ok.

Little bit of controversy at the game, (5-1 against South Melbourne) with dickheads still insisting on taking flares, twelve were ignited at the game, with the result that the FFA are looking at the possibility of punitive action against MV, including taking points of of them.

Oze, here is some footage of Archie at his best, from Wednesdays night game.

If only Palace could find a player like him, hands of though

thanks Oz, had a tough game against the South Melb women, even though we are in the same division they are ahead of us in terms of technique and awareness, however we played well in the second half but ended up losing 4-0. the girls were happy however when Archie walked into our dressing room at half time to say hello and I got to meet Ernie Merrick after the game.
MV looked ok, Fred leaves a big hole to fill, Keenan played ok but showed he needs more game time with the team as they didn't read his runs well in the first half. Archie is head and shoulders above anyone playing in Australia at the present looked dangerous every time he had the ball

Currently, if I was a supporter of any other A-League, I'd be shitting myself about the Melbourne team. On paper thus far the team has improved itself 10 fold.

Kemp is a far better (and more versatile) full back than Storey.

Milicevic is better than any other central defender in the A-League and can play in a variety of roles. His size and versatility will be incredibly useful. He'll have no issues handling the likes of Zdrillic, when he's managed to handle Henry.

Say what you will about Hernandez but he's a capped player at the peak of his powers, who played at the World Cup. Has a deadly long range shot and the only thing that would prevent him from kicking arse is Merrick's inability to utilise him or team harmony. I'm pretty sure this will not happen because Merrick is a great man manager.

Our future goalkeeper is currently getting 1st team experience in the 2nd best league in the country and we've also just signed Australia's best prospect since Kewell in Kaz Patafta.

If I was the other teams, I'd be worried ...

The only problem we'll have is this one

-----------Theo------------
---Leijer---Ljubo---Vargas---
Kemp------Musky------Keenan
-----------Brebs-----------
Patafta---------------Hernandez
-------Danny----Archie---------

Unfortunately we can't fit all twelve on the pitch at once, and the rest of our players ain't exactly crap

Good problem to have.

There's bound to be an injury or two.

Not gonna argue with you there, but which one of those players is gonna sit on the bench when our best team is on the park? I'm thinking Patafta, but no real idea to be honest

If there are no injuries, I expect the bench to be:

- Galekovic
- Piorkowski
- Patafta
- (as yet unsigned backup striker)

Caceras, Pantelidis will probably be used as well, but looks like Panta might get less game time this season ...

Yo Ozeagle, did you go to Armin Van Buuren?

I went to the White party at Vodafone arena here in Melbourne 2 weeks ago. Was quite good. Not actually my cup of tea, but one of my cousins loves the guy and dragged me along ...

did i?
of course i did.
went to the sydney one on Sat night, flew down for melb Sun night.

epic stuff. was sipping a latte on the main dance floor when Armin came on.
epic tunes. much more trancey than Sydney, and crowd superb. lasers not as good as sydney but still some nice effects.
armin is God. best DJ in the world, by some way. no wonder you enjoyed it either though 'twas not your cup of tea.

HAHAH, you and my cousin would talk for ages about this, no doubt.

I enjoy such events, but perhaps particularly enjoy the assorted paraphenalia that comes with it, hehehe. We rented a Crown suite for the whole weekend, and it was fear and loathing at Crown. Top night, and a top weekend.

missus's bro's birthday, he and his mates rented out the palatial suite at Crown, so we headed there in the driving rain afterwards.

quite weird to be sitting at that level (most of them off their chops) watching as helicopters flew in along the yarra.

there is nothing like Armin. epic.

Unbelievable. We probably walked near each other or crossed paths on the way back to Crown in that fecking rain!

By the time it got to the morning I had snorted a fair bit of charles and was well paranoid. We ordered brekfast and I shit myself because we had 7 people in the room, and Crown have a strict anti-party policy. Then when the pancakes arrived I was OK.

After that we shut the curtains to avoid knowing what time of day it was.

Why paranoia? Not many national teams would televise a game of that kind.
