Has anyone mentioned 4-3 Barnsley?

First game of 95, a great Dowie double took a 4-1 lead, only for typical palace to let them back into it, nervy last few minutes.

That's another game where Budgie sat on the crossbar. In fact he stood on it for 10 minutes, not one person notcied as we were battering them down the other end. Only an Independent reporter and myself noticed it.

Two friendly matches from the V*n*bl*s era stand out for me:

The tour to Jersey in the Summer of 1977 featured a 12 goal thriller at St Hellier (no, not the hospital in Carshalton!) where Palace handed out a 9-3 thrashing to the Jersey XI - Palace even missed a penalty amidst several daft pitch invasions from the small travelling contingent!

In our last game of the the 1980 tour to Sweden - a Mike Flanagan hat-trick in our 8-0 win against Edsbyn - where I understand Mr Flanagan got locked out of the Palace hotel as the players partied on into the night!

It's been mentioned but, again, Palace 8 Harwich 2, FA Cup, 1st round. Most goals I've seen in a competitive match involving Palace. Sewell scored in that match, a rarity, possibly his first for the club.

This is the Top 10 since the start of 69/70 season.

It's basically all of the matches in which 9 or 8 goals have been scored. By chance it comes to 10; I'd be interested to know how many of them haven't been mentioned on this thread.

Code:
2004 ; DIV1 ; H ; Stoke City ; W : 6-3 ; Sat, 14/Feb/04 1990 ; DIV1 ; A ; Liverpool ; L : 0-9 ; Tue, 12/Sep/89 1989 ; DIV2 ; A ; Blackburn Rovers ; L : 4-5 ; Sat, 08/Oct/88 2000 ; DIV1 ; A ; Huddersfield Town ; L : 1-7 ; Sat, 28/Aug/99 1998 ; PREM ; A ; Chelsea ; L : 2-6 ; Wed, 11/Mar/98 1991 ; LCup2i ; H ; Southend United ; W : 8-0 ; Tue, 25/Sep/90 1989 ; DIV2 ; A ; West Bromwich Albion ; L : 3-5 ; Sat, 26/Nov/88 1988 ; DIV2 ; A ; Leicester City ; D : 4-4 ; Sat, 02/Jan/88 1975 ; DIV3 ; H ; Swindon Town ; W : 6-2 ; Sat, 07/Sep/74 1971 ; DIV1 ; H ; Manchester United ; L : 3-5 ; Sat, 17/Apr/71

In that period, there have been 23 other matches in which 7 goals were scored. I'm sure they haven't all been counted yet.

Been to 6 of those games. Value for money I most certainly think.
