Thread for the ladies - Fashion related
Does anyone else wish those smock/tunic things that are in all the shops at the moment would go out of fashion? They are so unflattering - a bit like a tent.
I've just spent an hour and half going round the shops looking at clothes and was singularly uninspired by most of what is in fashion at the moment. Maybe I am getting old ![]() Any advice from the lovely ladies of the BBS on what I should be buying to suit my (rather odd) shape? Yours, a bit fed up, of Westminster.

Tranny and Sylvester, or whatever their names are, have just done a book about buying for your shape.
That is my total input.

Yup I have this book. It isn't much help when what they suggest for your body shape isn't in fashion at the moment and the shops aren't stocking such items. It's a right old dilemma let me tell you.

Totally agree with you Lizzy
Tried one on and looked pregnant !!!! I think they're not that flattering for a lady of any size tbh. The problem us 'older' girlies have is that when something comes into fashion for the young 'uns, every single bloody shop seems to get on the band wagon and sell that particular item. I don't really want to go around looking like I'm a woman in my late thirties trying to look like a 16/17/18/19 yr old !!!

A padded bra? More seriously - I think you would look good in a red cape.

Patent leather handbags - wish they would vanish too. Mrs Adlerhorst wants one - could not believe how expensive - and it will be out of fashion in a week or two.

They are awful. My wife keeps getting asked if she's pregnant, which as you can imagine goes down about as well as a fart in a spacesuit.
They look like pregnancy outfits. Stop wearing them if people think you're pregnant and you're getting upset. They are the devil's work.

![]() If you want to look like you have boobs then just do padding, shurely. And red capes are cute. Like little ones that flutter. Or you could wear grey hipster trousers and tight black polo neck tops that say "This is my shape and it is long and elegant", like some sort of post-Beatnick feministic literary look. Flairs would be perfect.

Long dark slacks, plain stark coloured silk shirt/blouses, and you can accessorise for detail with a long necklace or a bag. Like Trinny off the television, who has the same basic shape. Accentuate length - it emphasises slenderness and makes any curves gradual and graceful. I think you should also wear black rimmed glasses and art hats, but that is less sensible and more just my taste. NOTE avoid prints or you will veer to either Art Teacher or Tory Wife.

Jeez MD - where did you learn all this? I'm really quite impressed. You've certainly given Tony a run for his money in the metro stakes.
