I like this bit.

Despite Southport's relegation from the Conference National in the 2006-07 season, Baker swept the board with Player of the Year awards, and was a fan favourite with the club's fans. Although only on a year's contract meaning he could move on for free, he signed for another year at the club, so that any interested team would have to pay for his services

Why a problem at 25? Surely anything between 25 and 28 years of age is considered a player's prime?

Well he's doing the business in a big way at League two level, but it's a big step up. Players have made the step up before based on a similar history (Gary Roberts at Ipswich being a good example), and if he's cheap enough (Roberts was £30k!!!), it's worth a punt.

Surely though Morecombe will want a big (for them anyway) fee for him, if he only joined for a club record fee in the summer, and has been a star for them since. On that basis, is he worth the risk ?

Which side he's playing. With Sean Scannel (and Ifill who will hopefully be fit one day) in the squad, I think we have to bring a left winger/striker in, before looking at a new right winger. Hughes is out of favour, Kennedy has no pace and Dave Martin has not established himself in that flank.

I wouldn't shell out too much bread on him, think he's just on a roll at the moment, he needs to use his loaf a bit more if he wants to step up a level. Actually I think he's a bit of a doughnut, although his bird has a nice pair of baps !
