Does anyone have any pictures of....

.... the model of Selhurst Park as it would look if they built it like the Holmesdale all the way round? I remember seeing the model at an open day years ago, and was just wondering if any happened to have any images of it.

Thanks

Seba

James?

Surely this is an option now that we have a 25 year lease and option to buy. Hell, if we go up, the £30M, plus another 30 if we stay up would be enough to at least put a Phase One of buy and start on the main stand.

The 'Gallery' was put in place to house all the Director's etc while we knocked down the Main Stand - and the top space (Red 'n' Blue Bar) was to be their watering hole.

The Holmesdale End of the MS would have to be a single tier low level to accomodate the light of the houses behind, but if it swept round rising gradually to a massive two tier Main Stand adjoining the Whitehorse we'd be on our way to a 42K capacity.

Still, Jordan wants to move to somewhere else in the Borough, doesn't he? Or have I misconstrued his comments from last night.

Silly question, been asked many times, but..... We never hear any more about new stadiums being built for us. I am thinking again that we are possibly on the verge of going back to the Prem with a 2nd rate stadium, in comparison to many aready up there. How many times must we go up, down and baack up before we do something. I suppose gates of 14-16K don't warrent one, but looking forward, what next.

Problem is there is no planning permission (don't know if we ever had it or whether we rather foolishly let it lapse) to do anything to the Main Stand. If we take down what is there we can't rebuild the same size, would have to be smaller and/or lower due to the houses to the side of the Holmesdale. Got to leave a 75ft space between the two stands to allow light to reach or something like that.

From what I remember the Holmesdale stand on the model wasn't the same as the stand we have now

Can't we get devoted Palace fans to buy all the local houses who don't care about light and who just want a great stadium?

I've got photos of the model that used to be in Main Reception, but they are prints from a 35mm film, and no means of scanning them onto here (don't have a scanner or any technical knowhow of how to put them up on here). When I wanted to show off my Dad's painting, I had to get someone else to scan it and post it on the BBS!

Also got the plans for the three quarter length replacement Main Stand, (bought them from Croydon Council when it was a current Planning application) but haven't seen them for ages, so don't know what I've done with them. Think they're under the bed in my spare room, but again that's not much use, as I wouldn't have a clue how to put them on here, especially as the plans are huge.

Best solutio is for CPFC to buy the 4 houses that are closest, rehouse the 4 families in nicer houses (Blackburn and Liverpool in the past have bought whole roads, but terraced houses oop north are a let less expensive than in South London) to ensure they play ball, then convert the 4 terraced houses into Club offices to replace the portacabin offices opposite. Then the 2 tier main Stand could swing right round to the Holmesdale.

Will never happen though, as Jordan wants to move elsewhere in the Borough (Purley Way would be most likely if he's looking within LB Croydon)

I'm sure I recall planning permission being in place and Noades failing to act on it in time. He then had to submit a new application which resulted in the 3/4 length stand.

The application is still online at Croydon Council but there are no plans available online.

Agree with these sentiments. The 4 houses in question are the only 4 in a residentisl cul-de-sac off Clifton Road that have windows facing the ground, so planning permission to convert them to club offices extremely unlikely. I am sure they could be put to use rented out as staff housing or something similar though.

I believe it actually doesn't matter whether the resident object or not, some planning rules are just rules. Structures of a certain size must be minimum distances from homes - and this wouldn't be. I believe a similar problem would exist if they tried to put a second tier on the Arthur. Rules have come in since the Holmesdale was built.

Sorry mate, you're talking to a bit of a luddite here. Only had a mobile phone for just over a year, and it's so basic it doesn't take photos. Even if it did I wouldn't know how to get photos from a phone onto a computer anyway.

I only just got my first digital camera after finally retiring the 35mm, and the only way I know how to get anything out of it is to take the memory card into boots and order prints from their little booth!

Borrowed a scanner from somewhere, and am having a go.

This will either work, or won't at all.

What a faff, but after some trial and error, finally managed it!!!!

6 photos in total - remember these were taken through a glass case, in a gloomy foyer so there's a little reflection off the flash

Top image = What the back of the Holmesdale end would have looked like! (the model took into account the slope of Holmesdale Road

2nd image = The Main Stand side (2 tier!), inc tunnel

3rd and 4th pics - the current club shop and Crystals, dwarfed by a 2nd tier on the Whitehorse end

5th pic - this is where the 'blue gates' are by the club offices - the private road, now known as Centenary Way would be retained, but would run underneath the 2nd tier of the new Main Stand!

6th pic - aerial view - at the far end is the whitehorse land stand (2 tier with a scoreboard hanging off the front of the 2nd tier which reads Palace 3 Liverpool 1!). On the left is the 2 tier main stand, in the foreground the Holmesdale, and on the right the Arfur.

Even with 'only' 1 side ever built, (The Holmesdale), the main difference is the roof - on the model it was a vaulted roof of lots of little arches, whereas the real Holmesdale is one big curved roof from front to back
