Anyone know when the season is supposed to kickoff in August?

Had a quick google, but to no avail.

The fixtures are usually out in the middle of June, if that helps.

Season starts = Sat 09 August.

that's unusual isn't it, the fixture's don't normally come out on a Monday.

Indeed normally third thursdayish in June. Two weeks after the league management shin dig. The date was shonw in the Bristol City programme so not guaranteed to be correct.

According to the Official Football League website

"The 2008/09 fixture programme will be announced on Monday 16th June at 10am on www.football-league.co.uk and the season will kick-off on Saturday 9th August 2008."

So that's pretty definitive.

In case anyone's interested, the Barclays Premiership fixtures are announced on the same date and the premiership kicks off one week later than the Football League:

"The Barclays Premier League will kick off its 2008/09 season on Saturday 16th August 2008. Barclays Premier League 2008-09 fixtures will be released on Monday 16th June 2008 when you'll be able to access them on premierleague.com."
