FIFA vs PES

For me its Pro Evo, most recent one is a bit disappointing but I still prefer it to fifa, especially playing against of with a friend

I've bought both.

FIFA has all the official names, clubs, competitions etc. I don't think it's gameplay is as responsive as it could or should be, the player movements (kinetic movement, such as running, walking etc.) are very generic - Ronaldinho will run in the same way as Beckham does etc.

However, I think you can play some good football, you can score some good goals and in general it's quite realistic. The scores reflect this, with lots of 1-0 wins an 0-0 draws, depending on how you play.

My biggest frustration is the fact that the computer opposition barely EVER foul you. I've played almost a hundred games now and I've had barely 5 fouls per game against me. I gather online play is better - but I want to be able to play the computer and have a fair game too.

For PES, it's too quick - the passing, the sprinting, it's just too quick. You'll have some games where you'll score 4 or 5 goals, then others where you won't. It doesn't have Palace, and it has very few official teams and player names. It's probably the worst edition of PES in a long, long time. I prefer the amount of control you have over a player, the fact that you can basically tell the player where to run and he responds almost instantly. I like the way you can tell the difference between one player and another, just by the way they run. And I prefer the shooting, crossing and heading in PES.

Honestly though, I'd wait for either PES 2009 or FIFA 09 to come out, as I think both are nowhere near perfection.

I'm ashamed to say that for the first time since Fifa: Road To World Cup 98 - I've ditched Pro and now am a Euro 2008 fan on the 360.

This. The series' both went opposite directions this year, and so far FIFA 09 has more to back up hype this year than PES.

i just can't see how people can think fifa in recent times is better than pro. With fifa it is to generic as said above, you can only score certain types of goals and eventually you feel bored by the same type of goals you score. With pro goals fly in from all different angles and go in, in much different ways to fifa as it isn't "set". Meaning pro is so much more realistic.

The player names are real for most teams i believe so im confused to why this is a complaint but i know the team names aren't real in most cases and its annoying only the top leagues are featured.

Only positive i see with fifa over pro is that the wide array of teams you can play as is much better, but in a game you look at the gameplay, and pro evo absolutely spanks fifa and it has been like this for a long time

always a pro fan up to this year when fifa on the 360 has quite literally blown the rest away. I predict for this to continue over the next few years especially after nabbing much of Pro Evos key staff

Have you played FIFA this year?

PES 08 is as far from "realism" as it's possible to be. FIFA is much more the simulation game while PES is all about arcadey nonsense (albeit fun nonsense).

I always rent both from blockbuster and spend a weekend playing each of them and then decide which one to get. This year I thought Fifa was better but got fed up with it quickly and sold it. I'm just going to wait for next year for a football game.

things i hate about pro evo..(playing against the computer)..

*when you press shoot and it doesnt shoot immediately but wait for the player to in control of the ball..meaning you can hardly do volleys

*when you bring on a substitute, the player seems to always be as tired as the player youve just brought off (this must be a software fault)

*how on occasion EVERY thing you do goes against you... ie you tackle an opponent and the ball will ALWAYS go out for a throw in or go straight to an opponent.

*how there are too many ways of setting up tactics, why cant i just ask all players to go 'all out attack' or all out defence.

*how when it rains or snow, your play is affected (which is fair enough) but the opponents play as if its dry and can control the ball with ease.

definately pro evo, fifa is for kids
