Did anyone see match of the 90's?

It was on yesterday evening(friday) at 11.40, the 1989-1990 season review. It showed the excellant 4-3 victory over Liverpool at Villa Park, what a game! We really should of won the final that year as well. The non Palace highlight of that season was Man City beating Man Utd 5-1 at Maine Road. It's wishful thinking but if Coppell can inspire that team(remember Wright was injuired) to win that semi, there's always a chance that we can one day rise again.

I saw it, and it bought back great memories.

It's funny aswell, because that season saw us lose 9-0 to Liverpool and concede the winning goal in the F.A. Cup final to the worst player ever to play for Man United, but I don't care.

That match at Villa Park was special. It was not only a great match for Palace - it was a great match. We were actually among the big boys proper for once, and we were holding our own.

Fantastic stuff. I will watch next week, and then decide I don't want to see any more!!!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch it, not that I'm able to remember that season anyway but It was a truely wonderful and passionate occassion for Palace fans around the globe . Does anyone know if the series is being re-run on another day ?

Nevertheless those days are close to being resurrected under the modern day era one way or another.

I'll never forget it, I was there and I remember Pemberton (a player who I hated) race down that wing sooooo fast and whip in that hard low cross - we'd scored against the mighty Liverpool and I've never gone so mental.

What really struck me was it was my first time at Villa park and i'd always thought that the Holmesdale was big - until I walked onto the Holte. It was wonderful joining in the current song to Liverpool of '9-0 9-0 etc etc'. ahh, fond memories, it is our destiny.

My memories from that game are so vivid. It was my first distance away game. I was down the front right behind the goal. I was almost in tears when Barnes hit that unstoppable penalty.... all the Liverpool fans were up the fence fists clenched, and going mad. When Andy Gray popped up and equalised, they were stunned. I was up that fence in seconds giving it to the scousers as much as a 13 year old could. We done ourselves proud that day..... I remember them singing "9-0" and us singing it back louder. Top day out....

Yeah! I remember the day well too. I was living in Scotland at the time and because they did't like showing English League/Cup games we had Sink the Bismark or something instead
Listened on Radio 5 and when they scored my Ex just laughed (Bitch). But who had the last laugh?!!!
(Oh and before any one quesions my loyalty etc I was in the Navy at the time and was duty over that weekend )
Luckily one of mates taped the game so at least I got to see it Monday night.

That was the first of only 2 occasions when I watched Palace live on TV.
I was back living with my parents and I was in my bedroom. My Dad popped his head in and I told him it was 1-0 to Liverpool, he moaned and went downstairs. 10 minutes into the second half and he was sitting in my room rooted as Palace were 2-1 up. As soon as Barnes put Liverpool into the lead(3-2), he left again, but was soon back to watch extra time.

I remember that I was probably the ONLY person, prior to that game, who actually liked Alan Pardew. I know that he was not that good a player, but, for that season he had played with true heart, after that game the "headless chicken chaser" was a hero!

Best Palace game of all time. Who knows prehaps Dean Austin will show up in the MU penalty box and head in the winner in the FA Cup....ah! MU are not in this season's FA Cup, well maybe Brentford?

I was sitting in the stand by the side (can't remember the name) but I clearly remember Liverpool all holding their scarves aloft singing You'll Never Walk Alone, when we scored. After mamdness subsided the whole Palace contigent in the Holte held their scarves up Liverpool style - it was a sight to behold.

Just how long did we stay in that ground singing Que Sera Sera after the final whistle?

I finally transferred it across to DVD last week, and was great to see some classic memories. Tad disappointed how we seldom got a mention in the 90/91 review. Focus was more on "King Kenny" leaving Liverpool, after the classic 4-4 F.A cup draw with Everton.
Tony Adam's been sent down, and “Smudger” Smith stating they still went out for their christmas knee's up, despite the donkey getting sent down that afternoon.
Alot of ex Palace Players have commented on it, but we never really got the recognition deserved, and a review like that just emphasises it.
