Palace Celebrations April 1964

My Dad was given this framed photo of Palace players winning promotion in April 1964 against Oldham Athletic, we lost the match 3-1 and with it the 3rd Division championship. Can any eagle-eyed fans out their confirm the players on view, it's evident from the picture that all the squad players were on the pitch after the game to join in the celebrations as I have seen the team line up for that game and some of the players in the picture were not playing in the match (notice the clean socks on some of them). L-R Imlach, Long, Whitehouse?, Stephenson, Lucas?, ???, Allen, Kellard.

Which Kellard is that then? It's not Bobby Kellard 'cos he was much later.

Terry Long and a very young Alan Stephenson ( I think that is correct?)

I seem to remember that Bert Head promised Terry Long an outing in Palace's first season in the First Division (69/70) so he could boast that he had played in all four divisions for the club.

It never happened. I guess Terry was past it by then. Every match counted in that grinding season. A real shame, that. Wonder what happened to Terry...

Only just found this thread def Brian Whitehouse and Freddie Lucas. Think the player between Lucas & Allen is Ernie Yard.

I believe the missing player going on other pictures I have seen is Billy Birch. Ernie Yard joined us at the start of 65-66 season.

You could well be right, and knowing your wealth of knowledge and records you probably are.

I still stand to be corrected about Bill Birch, I have been wrong many times in the past!. Other players who played that season in a couple of games were Stan Forster and Bill Fuller the player I don't believe is any of those two. I also went on the pitch at the end of that game, I have ony been on twice the other was after the Fulham game at the end of our promotion season 1968-69. Hope they don't ban me now!

Bill Glazier was ever present that season, went to Coventry the following season. Jacko made his debut 2nd match of the 64/65 season then competed with Tony Millington for the first team position after Glazier had left.
