Leeds United
I don't like Leeds, I suppose, but I don't hate them. At the same time I want to see them in the Premiership. There's just something about them, I want them at the top. Am I mad?

You're mental you.
But mainly you're just wrong. They aren't at the top of my shit list, but I and most right-minded people wish them nothing but failure on the pitch. |

I know that they've done alot of shit etc. But to me they're a top 4 Prem Club. I miss seeing Leeds in the Premiership, real English grit.

We don't have any God-given right to be in the prem, and we're far from a top four premiership club these days. Top forty, maybe.
Our true high point was winning the old First Division in the early nineties under Howard Wilkinson. Subsequent 'success' under O'Leary and Ridsdale was totally false, and totally tainted. We had a brilliant set of players, but also a manager who didn't know how to spend money and a chairman who didn't know how to say no. Two prime ingredients for the failure that followed. Gave the fans some amazing nights in Europe and a few seasons breaking the 'top four' but setting us up for an almighty fall. I'd do anything to get back in the premiership, but not at all costs. First step Championship. But it's nice to see there are some people out there who don't despise us. Mere dislike is fine. ![]()

2 things worth noting here: 1. What's the problem with an electric fence? 2. Batesy handed over Chelsea's 1990 FA Cup Final allocation to Ron

I was speaking to a friend the other day and Leeds came up... The scary thing is I ALWAYS forget Leeds actually won the Division 1 (Premier League) Title in 1991/92.
![]() Everyone goes on about Leed getting CL Semi's etc, but I think a LOT of people forget Leeds actually won that title.

2. I very much doubt he "handed them over". Captain Birds Eye doesn't work like that. I'm sure there was a very nice sweetener in it for him to do so.

I have it in my mind that we did the double over Leeds when they won the league. Anyone confirm?

Have to say I have never liked Leeds since the Revie era. They were one of the most cynical teams going, used every dirty trick in the book. What is more annoying is that they had the players to beat teams fairly but prefered to win by intimidation.

I used to despise Leeds, mainly because a group of 30something Leeds fans covered me in spit when I was walking to Selhurst once. I was 12 years old at the time and the Police did fvck all about it. Then m355y turned up on here and started being all pleasant and reasonable and I find it difficult to hate them now

I watched Leeds at Filbert Street in their Title winning year,
They bored the pants off me with their dreary tactics and offside trap, Leeds won 1-0. I copied their tactics in Sunday pub football, now it was my hand going up and shouting offside, Believe it or not,we won the league. The Leeds feel good factor lasts untill Thursday tea-time, Then reality kicks in,........in my opinion. ![]() |

Indeed the 1-0 at home was moved from the opening day due to building work at Selhurst not being finished. We won it 1-0 with a rare Marco Gabbiadini goal in the last minute! It's also the game John Salako f***ed his knee up.The away game was 1-1 and Geoff Thomas scored! I think Gary Speed may have scored for them?! ![]()

I dont dislike Leeds anymore than other biggish clubs. I just think it's hilarious seeing such a big club (in terms of support/history) etc floundering in the lower leagues. They will come back, but I'm going to enjoy it whilst it lasts! What would beat it though would be if Abramovich f*ked off/went bankrupt and chelsea went into freefall. That would probably be as satisfying as seeing Palace going up ![]() |
