Footballer on sex assault charge


A Premier League footballer has appeared in court to face charges of attacking a woman in a nightclub.

Marlon King, 28, of Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, appeared before City of Westminster magistrates' court in London.

The striker, who is on loan to Middlesbrough from Wigan Athletic, is alleged to have sexually assaulted and punched a 20-year-old woman in a nightclub.

King was arrested on December 10 after an incident at the Soho Revue Bar in Brewer Street, central London, three days earlier.

District judge Nicholas Evans adjourned the case until April 8 when King, who was released on bail, will appear again at the same court, a court spokesman said.

The footballer was on loan to Hull City at the time of the alleged incident.

The nightclub has since closed.

Seems like he can only stay out of trouble with Hoofroyd as his manager.
